How can I make a domain assignment to my blog work without needing to type www before the URL?
I assigned a domain to my blog but it doesn't take you there unless you type www before the URL.

See if this helps http://theedifier.com/blogging-blogger/blog-hosting-own-web-site-url-port-network-sharing-protocol.php#q

How do you separate an exchange server from the www ip address with the same domain on 2 ISPs ?
While attempting to host a business website an issue has developed, the business has an exchange server pointed to from the current ISP via a telecom MAX record entry?, and we had hoped to edit the A record with the new ISP IP address. What are the potential risk having two ISP's, 1 pointer for email server and 1 for their website using the same domain.

I'm not sure I understand your question correctly. First of all, an A record is an Alias record; it must reflect back to a C (Canonical) record. So when you say you're going to edit the A record, I assume you mean you're going to have it point back to a different C record. As for the issues, it's a recommended practice to have multiple DNS servers (or any other kind, for that matter) for redundancy. You'll have to make one a master and any others as slaves, then set up domain transfers to keep them all in sync. There are lots of free resources for how to do this on the web, but if you're going to be doing a lot of DNS administration, I highly recommend the O'Reilly book by by Albitz and Liu - absolutely worth every penny.

How do I get a known good .swf to display correctly in the www domain folder?

Why does typing "www" before a domain take you to a different site or take you to an error page?
The website for the organization that I work for has this problem and I would like to fix it. When I go to the site with the www at the beginning it works fine, but when I don't type it, it takes me to an 'under construction' page. This is only a problem when I am on their network. But I have noticed this problem going to outside sites from our network. Is this an internal issue? Thanks in advance!!

Need to set the .htaccess file to point to either or set the server to do the same. Typing "www" as part of the domain name is not needed on a properly set up server. I normally just type the domain name and press Ctrl + Enter if it is a DotCom type. There are other browser shortcut keys depending if domain name ends in "net", "edu", etc.. Ron

how to make a domain without the prefix www to work with google apps?
They allow only a CNAME which doesn't work without www. php is not supported in google apps. i was asking what to specify in A when hosting in google apps?

it called canonical problem. www is work without non www. just you have write 3 lines code in your .htaccess file if you use PHP than. Like: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain\.com RewriteRule (.*) http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] and if you use asp than see below links.

What kind of server do I need to register a domain name on the WWW without buying one from a hosting company?
Somebody said that to have a website I needed a static ip, but can't I have a domain name if I have a static ip?

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today. One of these services is reachable at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . As an experienced webmaster I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. Their service is really great and easy to use.

How can inquire about a private domain? www.kejos.com?
I have tried contacting them via e-Mail, their hosting company, and domain hosting company and I still can not get in touch with them. PLEASE DONT say who is search. I am aware of that and I get no more information than just the persons email which they never respond to. How would I got about inquiring for this? Thanks IA

Since that dot com is owned by DomainsProxy.com they will want a hefty fee since you are showing interest in the name. As that is how they make money off selling domains. Since it expires in March of 08', my advice would be to buy up the dot net and any others you want. Make, start whatever you are starting as it takes time to get it all together, working, etc. Once the dot com comes available buy it up and then re-point all items to the dot com, still thru the dot net or others for about a year to ensure not to miss any customers. Sounds like work but its not cause I am sure they will say they want at least $5000 for the domain since you show interest. Here is the info I found from Who Is through GoDaddy which is where DomainProxy originally bought the name from. Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. How do you redirect your site when someone punches in domain.com so that it redirects to WWW.domain.com?
Im with yahoo as my domain provider, and im not sure how to configure the DNS settings so that this works.

www.domain.com is set up automatically when a hosting account is created. To get domain.com to work, you need to create an A record for domain.com that points to the IP address of your web hosting account. (Most web hosts set up this A record automatically as part of creating a hosting account) Good luck with it.

My domain is with godaddy, with email directed to Google. How can I set www to another host?
