Does anyone know where i can get free webspace to upload a 98mb video file?
Or is there a way I can compress the file to send through email? I tried zipping it and it didn't work. Even a service that offers webspace real cheap and will let me upload anything I want.

megaupload.com I've used the site before and while there is a fair bit of advertising, it won't download any spyware onto your computer and you can upload really large files that anyone can download from the site.

I own 10MB webspace, How can I make my homepage, which softwate required, helpme to make it?
I dont know how to make website and edit pages to update, recently I rent a 10MB webspace and registered a domain, now waiting for some help to build my pages, I dont know about webdesigning and those softwares that are used to build, please give a way to proceed

The best way would probably to learn HTML and write your pages in notepad, since that would give you most flexibility. There are many websites out there that teach HTML including these: http://www.lissaexplains.com http://www.w3schools.com http://www.yourhtmlsource.com/ If you don't want to learn HTML(even if that's the case, I strongly suggest you read some of the sites above since they give really good information about building websites), you can use a software where you place things on the page and it'll write the code out for you . If you don't want to pay for something like Dreamweaver (www.adobe.com), I suggest NVU (www.nvu.com) which is Free and open Source. To actually make the website, the first step would be to plan out which pages you want to make. This could be done on paper, by drawing a simple flowchart of what pages will be linked to what. Then, decide on your layout. If you're just starting, try something simple at first, like a banner up top with a picture and the menu, and then all the info underneath. You can make your graphics for your website in a software like Photoshop or the GIMP. Make sure to save all photographs as jpg and all pictures that have less than 256 colours in gif. Once you created the website, you need to put it on the net. The usual way is to upload it via FTP. Your host should provide you with an FTP address, name and password for you to use. You need to get an FTP client program (I suggest FileZilla, http://filezilla-project.org/ , which is also free and open source) to do this.

Can the world wide web run out of webspace?
Please don't laugh at me because I don't know how to technically explain what I mean :) I just wonder if the www would ever become "overcrowded" and slow down because of all the videos and other huge files stored online. And perhaps if, because of the global financial crisis, there's less demand from advertisers so all the public sites like yahoo, myspace, facebook etc provide less "space" as a result. Thank you.

The capacity to store information is to all intents and purposes - limitless, but the internet does face some huge challenges. The phone lines, cables, transmitters and satellites which pump information between computers are limited in their capacity to do so. Think of the internet as a huge reservoirs of information connected by pipes. The reservoirs can be as big as you like, but the pipes carrying that information are severely challenged, because as you rightly point out, people are trying to pump more and more information through them particularly in the form of video. What this means is that the net is prone to big slowdowns as too many people turn on their taps, and the pipes simply cant flow information at worthwhile speeds. Living in Australia, you will notice this effect in a big way, as the main datacentres of the US, Europe and Asia compete for limited space over pacific and transatlantic cables. Part of the drive in Australia now is to improve the quality of pipes (initiatives like 3G wireless, fibre to node and DSL are all aimed at doing this, and are currently out to tender, to be paid for by the future fund). The big pipelines that run internationally are also being constantly upgraded, using money from joint ventures. Telstra is a major player, and it is for this reason that Optus has to piggyback on Telstra, and all the arguments about monopolistic practice are raising their heads. The situation is largely mirrored internationally, except that in Europe, Asia and the US the pipes between big data centres are generally very good, but the minor arteries connecting the reservoirs to homes and businesses are under immense stress. The ability to carry a volume information from one place to another in a certain time is called Bandwidth. This is what is under stress. When there is too much demand for bandwidth between the supplier of information and the person requesting it, things simply slow down or grind to a halt.

How do you put a Publisher file on Cox's Webspace?
I tried to save my file as an html and even saved it using Nvu, but nothing seems to work! I can get it onto where it says 'managing webspace', but then when I go to the webspace they gave me, it does not show up! Please help!

Where can I find some free webspace to store files so I can access them remotely?
Basically I have some files that I use for tracking finances. I am constanly switching computers and I don't want to carry around a jump drive everywhere. The files will be less than 1mb. Any ideas on a good remote file storage site?

I like Box.net. Great interface, good free offering, and paid programs for more storage.

How do I use my webspace?
How do I use my webspace? I tried to upload an index.html file via an ftp client, but it didn't work, I couldn't log on to the upload server. Maybe I did something wrong. I couldn't find the correct procedure on your website. Why can't I reply to the answer given by Land_Bus? Perhaps I'm asking the wrong question anyway. Do yahoo allocate webspace I can use, if so what's their upload address? Thanks.

You probably have Frontpage Extensions active, which let you upload a page. If they are active, you can't use FTP until you deactivate them. This only applies to Windows based hosting packages. In 1&1, log into your control panel and click domains. Scroll down and you can toggle between FTP and FS extentions. Yor provider should provide you with this information.
