I am looking for a place where I can download and use free website templates. Anyone know of a real good site. The ones I have found in google searches are not very good.
I found my own. If anyone else is looking for a simple and quick way to do this try using http://www.mionet.com/ . This is a remote access and sharing site.

How do i edit logos that come with website templates?
I've seen people nicely edit text with website templates that come with graphical logos. How do i do so with a JPG?
You need their PSD files to edit them.
Or you can replace them buy the new ones by editing the whole template. Search for the logo image url and replace it with the one you like in html.

I have searched but I cannot tell whats a legit site for purchasing a template for making a website. Its for an appliance repair company. I would rather purchase a subscription for 50$ then buy a single template for 50. Let me know any specific websites you recommend for this. Thanks!

how do website templates get your information?
i know there are websites where you can but templates, but how do they get your information. when you buy it do the creators of the website wait like a day then put in the info you want themselves or do the person put it in...??? i always wanted to know that
Typically you edit the web templates with an html editor, you can add your information/links, name etc...
The easiest way for a novice to build a web site is to start with a web template. Web Templates can be customized and you can use the layout but swap the graphics etc.... this will get you comfortable with basic HTML design and an HTML editor (like Dreamweaver).

how do information get put on website templates?
I know you can buy website templates, but how do the person's (the person who bought the website template) own information get on their like about them etc. Is their software that goes with that to put it in or do you email the person who designed the template and give them all your info and they put it in or what?
The text you see on templates can be easily changed to what you want with a free HTML editor. They can be found by searching keyword "free HTML editor" in Google or yahoo. As long as the template extension is either .htm or .HTML, you should have no probs. The HTML editor i live by is from the "Coffee Cup" company. Check it out, its free and very easy to use. If you have no experience with HTML editors, you could also join a forum for such things.

You might want to investigate using a CMS (content management system) which has everything you need to work with PHP and databases included. A good startting point is http://www.opensourcecms.com/ . It allows you to try many different systems there on the website.
If the CMS path is maybe a little too complex for what you need, then it is not hard to get a web template and add a little bit of your own PHP/MySQL to it. Check out http://www.oswd.org for free templates. You can find PHP info all over the web; I used http://www.tizag.com and their tutorials when I was learning.
Don't forget you will also need a webhost who supports PHP/MySQL ;)
Can I use GNU GPL licensed Joomla website templates for my business?
Sometimes there is a quote "not for commercial use". Does this mean I cannot sell the template or I cannot use the template as my business website?
GNU GPL allows commercial use, and redistribution. The restrictions apply only to redistribution (even then commercial redistribution is allowed, the source code must be provided if you are redistributing the original or a derived product). So, if a template is GNU GPL licensed, you can use it without worrying about legal issues. If it also says "not for commercial use" - contact the author.
