i have to do a project in school creating a website. Where did you go to get a domain and what web host do you use? please rate your host? does your host offer many features like being able to change the background or being able to upload large files? i would prefer if the hosts were free.

Although it is not free, GoDaddy works very well for me. File size uploads are not limited in any way that I notice. It has always been very reliable. It offers basic editing software but I change my pages using other software.

What are the best professional photography website hosts?
I need a website host that will package the domain and template together, and user friendly. I want to be able to sell my photos online where the customer has the ability to purchase and download photos,or order prints as well. I need to have several photo galleries, that can be passworded if needed. I don't want to pay an arm and a leg, so something very affordable and easy.

Would it be a problem for a company if an employee hosts a bad website?
If someone hosts a website from work that is inappropriate, could that damage the company in any way or be traced back to the company. Is there any reason why an employee would do that using company computers rather than his own?

If you host any website FROM WORK, you are essentially stealing resources from your employer. That alone is grounds for termination regardless of the sites contents. If you host an 'inappropriate' site, your employer may object even if you don't use their computers.

What is a good website that hosts writing contests?
I am 13 and would like to submit short stories. I want to see if my writing is any good and to possibly earn a little cash for my parents. I already checked out similar questions to mine, but none of the websites seemed to be right for someone my age, or had no participants. Please don't recommend magazines or annual contests. I just need a website with writing contests for kids that actually has contributors and/or prize money.

Unfortunately, the answer is not "zero, zilch, nada". Fortunately, the answer is "*almost* zero, zilch, nada". For example, I block numerous advertising sites using my hosts file. The only bad effect is that some newsletters that I subscribe to use redirects through some of these sites for their click tracking, meaning I sometimes can't go directly to the rest of the article.
