Website Database
How can I use MySQL to access a website database?
I dont know much about MySQL. Can you explain to me what MySQL query is?
And how can I learn to use it to access a website database?
Also, whats the relationship between MySQL and PHP?
MySQL is a type of database that is typically used on many websites. PHP is a server-side programming language that can do a lot of things, such as interacting with a database.
If you want to access a mySQL database, you will probably need to use phpMyAdmin to access and build the database, which is installed on most hosting services.
If you are serious about learning php/mysql, pick up one of the For Dummies books to get you started. They're pretty good beginners guides.
Can I use Microsoft Access to create a website database?
If so, is this a good idea to do it this way?
This would involve a website with user log-ins and with forms that can be used to select and insert very simple data to the database.
Don't think you can do that..........however you can create databases for different things :

kindly tell me the disadvantages of using flat files for a website database?
kindly tell me the disadvantages of using flat files for a website database? I want to use it but some guy discouraged me. I know mysql is better but the script i got uses a flat file.
Can you suggest any news publishiing script for me that is free?
Speed. On avg to search a flat file will take longer than searching an indexed db. However everything has it uses and you could choose continue to use the flat file if you find you're happy with the performance. Just be aware that as the file size increases search time will get noticeably longer.

How do I tell if a website has a database?
Yesterday a client asked me how he could tell if a competitor's website was database-driven. I was stumped.
So the question is, how can I find out if a database is being used to dynamically serve website content without having any hosting information?
well you see if you can download stuff off of it it has a data base of sum type
but say like my space it has a data base of all the passwords and user names so that well tell you if they have a data base

How can I set up a website with database capabilities?
As an example of the type of website I want to create, consider the website at http://football.stassen.com , which allows visitors to calculate and list college football teams according to various criteria, using historical records as the background database. I'm not particularly interested in doing this for football, mind you, but I would like to know how to create a website that allows visitors to calculate statistics according to background data.
I would defintely suggest using the combination PHP / mySQL. It is support by most free servers and any server you have to pay for, plus it is free software to use, not much harder than plain HTML and is in high demand for jobs too.
How do you build a website database?
What is the best way How do you build a website databace?
And ware is a good place to learn how to build a databace?
Are there premade databaces you can download for a small price/free?

First you need to decide which kind of database you want to use. MySql and SQL are the defacto standards. MySql is free and there are many resources for learning them. You should always start by designing your website and database on a local machine before moving it up to the internet. This Of course means that you will need to install a web server on your computer before you can start developing.
If you are using a Windows XP Professional computer you can install Microsoft's free web server called IIS (Internet Information Services) as well as a PHP plug in and run MYSQL as well. All of these services are free. Before diving into database design though i would suggest learning PHP or other Server Side scripting language as this is needed to access the database from the internet. A good starting place for all of this is the W3 Schools website ( Http://www.w3schools.com ) Plenty of good and up-to-date Information to get you started!
How to build a database driven website with user login and sales tracker.?
I have minimal knowledge on database building. The website I am creating will require a database to store customer usernames and passwords, to include previous purchase history with my website. If anyone knows a good tutorial of where I can find the information needed, I would greatly appreciate the enlightenment.
Hey John,
I'll admit, I don't know alot about database building, but...
I use SBI (Site Build It!) and my website is extremely successful for it's first year.
I'm assuming you know "techie language", and a site-builder seems like a tool for newbies. You can definitely upload your own HTML and it comes with really powerful tools that most web designers don't even have access to.
So basically, you may have to upload a third party subdomain to accomplish the database part (they highly recommend this one service that works together great with SBI! that can handle what your looking for, but I can't remember what it's called.)
And they really teach you how to rank super high in the search engines (they have a countless number of customers that hit the top 1 percentile of internet traffic)
I did an un-biased review on my website about SBI and I think it's worth checking out..(watch the 2 1/2 minute video)
If it's not for you, I wish you the best of luck. Web design can be pretty complicated doing it the old fashioned way.
Website database listing what former players are doing now?
Once in a while I think of a former player, British usually, and wonder if they are alive and what they are doing now. Rather than Googling each one individually, is there a good site with a large database of such information?
Here's a list of England footballers.

You can click on a name and find out how they're doing. For example, this is what you get when you click on "David Beckham".
