How can I make bands website come off as profitable and stable?
Right now I am learning HTML but I want to know what else is really needed to have a website come off as profitable and stable. This is for a bands website.

It depends on what you mean by "have a website come off as profitable and stable" - what are you talking about? Do you want to make a profit from the website for your band? Do you want your site to look professional? Are you talking about selling stuff as far as your band goes? You can show pictures of what your band has to sell, take payments via paypal. You can also add adsense ads to your site as well. You earn money when people click on the ads. A lot of bands have myspace pages but you can't add adsense ads to myspace pages but you CAN have both a myspace and a regular website. Your band could also get sponsors and advertisers of their own. You could also start a podcast/talkshow featuring your band - all for free! There are a lot of free ways to make your site profitable but you have to do the work and not just build a site and then do nothing else to it. The name of the website that finds bands that relate to your taste?
It was a website were you'd write your fav band (or any band, whatever) and it would spew out all these other bands that were the same genre or where like it. Anyone know the link?

Pandora

What's a good website for discovering bands/music?
Like, I really need some music for writing and stuff, but I'd prefer it to be someone that's not already too popular, because I've heard all those already. So if anyone knows a good website to discovering bands that're not yet popular, it'd be a huge help =]! Thanks!

Well, visit myspace, or like Launch.com(by yahoo) more popular is like the top 100 on itunes. look on like google, search songs, or new songs, or the genre you like most, i'm sure you'll find something. If you like a specific person look at all the songs they've written in their career. Idk what to tell you. :) i really hope you find what your looking for.

What kind of website can I go on to check up on any bands that might be playing around my area?
Yo, I want to go to a concert sometime, but I don't know if any of my favorite bands are playing around New Jersey. Is there any way of checking to see what shows are being played in or around New Jersey? I don't really want to go to each band's individual website to check their touring information cause I kind of have a lot of bands =)

http://www.ticketmaster.com Go the website and search for the band and than look at the different tours (if their are any) and dates scheduled in the area. Or you could always use the Google machineeee! xD

Is there a website where bands look for singers?
I sing just about every style (alternative, r&b, jazz) and I would love to be in a band. Any websites where bands look for singers? (lead, back up, whatever.) Thanks

There are LOTS of such sites. Craig's List is very good for such things, if there's a local site for your neighborhood. Also, if you search for "gig finder" in google you'll get scads of hits.

Website to compare bands that sound alike?
Does anyone know of a website I can go to, to find bands and artists that share a similar sound? I use to go to soundslikenow.org but for whatever reason that site is no longer working. For those who aren't familiar with soundslikenow.org. You'd type in a band or artist and they'd bring up a full page of other bands that sound similar, whether it be rock, rap or country.

Hm, there's plenty out there - just depends on which fits you. ;) Here's some of my favorites: 1. http://www.jango.com - It's an Internet radio website, similar to Pandora - but better IMO. I never liked Pandora as it limits the amount of songs you can listen to on a station per hour, and it always recommends the songs that are impossible to find elsewhere. 2. http://audiomap.tuneglue.net/ - Shhh, this is my little secret site. I love this one - type in a band or artist, hit enter, and it pops up with a little web of 5 or 6 similar artists/bands. It doesn't work too well for the really well-known bands - because you'll probably know the recommendations - but it's fantastic for the lesser known bands. 3. http://www.musicovery.com - Basically, you find new music based on your mood. You can check if you want positive or darker songs, upbeat or calm ones, the time period, the genres, etc. Then it makes a web of them and lets you listen to the song. 4. http://www.goombah.com - It's not good at recommending similar artists, but I find that the songs they recommend (even though they're not similar) I like anyway. 5. http://www.tastekid.com/ - Very very broad search-n-go website, but it works for books, movies, etc. so it's pretty decent. 6. http://www.meemix.com/app/ - Modern Internet radio site, not bad. 7. http://www.tagomatic.com/find-similar-music.php - Almost interactive similar-music-finder. Type in the band and click their name, then remove the ones that aren't similar. Also works for movies and books. 8. http://www.gnoosic.com/tripex.php - Type in 3 bands or musicians and then it will suggest a similar one for you. http://www.music-map.com/ is from the same site - type in a band, and a bunch of recommendations will come up.

what is a website that can map out bands you might like, by telling them what you listen to?
i once found a site that when you put in the typo's of bands you listened to, it would make a web of bands that sounded similar. i was wondering if anyone knew what the website is?

this might not be the one but, pandora.com

Website that organizes various bands' upcoming tour dates?
Does anyone know of a website that will find bands' tour dates, put them all in one place, then make you a calendar of sorts that includes your favorite artists and any dates in your area?
