How to use a web host to build a site?
I have purchased a domain name and reseller hosting account but now I am clueless on how to tie it all together. How do I use my control panel to put up my site.
get a template from http://www.web-site-templates.biz and upload it
buy a domain name from a reseller, but dont want to host at that site?
i just registered a domain name trough a reseller company, but i'm having 2nd thoughts about hosting my web site with them . the main reason is that there are not very reliable, and i'm concerned about who have control over my site (i'm afraid they'll change my site u c...) . i want to change to another provider but still have my current domain name.. how can i do that?
i asked if they could cancel my domain name so that i can buy it again trough another company but they say they couldn't ...
Also, can my existing provider change my site without my permission?
can any give me some advice?? im not sure what to do.. thanks
and how do i switch a company? who do i contact to ? thanks again, u were all helpful..^^

How to structure my web hosting account for Multiple sites?
I'm just wondering what's the most cost effective way in organizing the hosting of websites if you are looking at building up a few.
- At the moment, I have an hosting account with siteground and a couple of registered domains with them, one of which is the primary domain for my hosting account.
- I also have some domains registered at Godaddy.
- If I wanted to build a site for my godaddy domains, I can't because it's not linked with my current hosting provider.
- If at this stage I get a reseller hosting account to another hosting provider, can I then build seperate sites for each of my domain through other registrars without transferring each domain to my new reseller account to minimize transfer fees.
- I'm new at this so your expert opinion will be valuable.
Thanks
The most cost effective way to do this is to open a Dreamhost account http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html
They're the best:
1. You get a free domain from them (actually 2 if you use the promo code, more about that later), or you can use one of these free domains to transfer your existing one to Dreamhost, and extend its' registration for one more year, all for free of course.
2. They have 500 GB of Disk Space
3. 5TB (5000 GB) of Bandwidth
4. You can use their huge Disk Space and host unlimited number of sites on a single account.
5. Their price is $119.40/year ($9.95/month if you pay yearly)
6. Which is a pretty standard price but they currently have a promotion: You can use the Promo Code: PLUS (at sign up page) and get a $50 discount + 2 Free Domain Names
7. This way you get them for $69.40/year ($5.78/month)
This is much cheaper than getting a reseller hosting.
You can continue using Godaddy for domain name registration, you don't have to switch (although I like http://www.namecheap.com more), you just have to point your domain(s) to Dreamhost. Just set ns1.dreamhost.com ns2.dreamhost.com ns3.dreamhost.com as your nameservers at Godaddy and that's it, they are now pointed at Dreamhost. Now you just have to add that domain name(s) in your Dreamhost control panel (extremely simple, it takes just a couple of seconds). Now you just have to wait a couple minutes/hours for new dns to propagate and that's it, your domains are now hosted with Dreamhost. Of course you don't have to use Godaddy/Dreamhost combination it's the same for any registrar/hosting.
I recommend you to keep domain names separate from the hosting provider. This way if you have any problems with your current hosting provider and you want to move your sites, you just have to open an account with a new hosting company and point your domains to them (set their nameservers). Of course you should use the free domains you get from your host and you can keep them there or transfer them to Godaddy (or some other registrar) in a couple of months.
P.S. I host over 20 sites with Dreamhost and register them all at Namecheap. When I want to add a new site this is the procedure I go through:
1. Register the domain example.com with Namecheap
2. Enter the name servers ns1.dreamhost.com ns2.dr...
3. Go to my Dreamhost control panel and add Domain to host: example.com
4. Create a folder example.com copy my new site content to it and ftp it to my Dreamhost root folder and that's it. All of this takes less than 5 minutes, and I have a new site up and running.
