Web Hosting Solution For Business

Why should I buy Yahoo Business Mail if it takes three hours for customer service to answer the phone?!?
Why can't Yahoo manage their customer service calls? Do they not have a call center? Can they not outsource? Other web hosting solutions are cheaper and provide better service. someone better pick up soon or g-mail here I come.

Wow. did it really take hours? I wouldn't have the patience to wait 30 minutes! I'd probably go with another business e-mail provider. Hopefully they'll have a phone. :)

What is a good web based collaboration tool for business use? Groupware or such. How about HR? Read details...
Something cheap or free that can be hosted on my own server would be nice. Collaboration solution for web based projects, HR for staff management, expense requests, task assignment, etc. Any suggestions?

I recommend Basecamp http://www.basecamphq.com/ - which I think is the best and easiest business collaboration tool around You can use it to: - Assign to-dos and tasks - Post messages and gather feedback - Simple scheduling and permissions - Share files internally or with clients - Track people's time I use it in my consultancies, and my clients love it. You don't even have to be a techie to use it.

Solutions for managing online advertisements on your website (Ad Serving)?
What are the best options for managing my website's ads? I need a solution that will manage all my website's ads - 500 to 750 of them. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: - I need to track the clicks on each ad in order to bill my customers (the advertisers). - I need to be able to easily add, remove, or modify ads myself - I also need to allow my advertisers to manager their ads online (ie: to limit the amount they spend, change their ad layout, etc.). BUDGET: Our website receives about 80,000 page views a month (about 24,000 unique visitors), so we are not looking for a big company enterprise solution. Rather, we are looking for a small- to medium-sized web business solution. An *approximate* budget is: $5,000 to $10,000 one-time purchase and installation cost *OR* $500 to $1,000 per year recurring licensing cost I know there are "hosted ad serving" solutions out there. I think I would rather a "local" ad server (a software solution we can install & manage) To clarify - I am an ad publisher, not an advertiser myself. I am not looking to manage my own company's advertisements, I need to manage ads that others put on MY site. Seems like the 2 answers I've gotten so far are assuming that I need help marketing a product/service. Let me be clear that I do not need any help selling my product/service. I sell advertising space on an already popular website, and I am looking for: **** a tool that will help me manage all the ads that we have already sold (and will continue to sell) and bill the customers ***. Thanks for reading.

One very good solution that I've found and use on my own website is PhpAdsNew http://www.phpadsnew.com . It is a free open source ad management program that is very easy to use. It allows real time tracking of statistics with an advertiser login account so they can check their statistics. You can easily add or pause the campaigns, set caps in terms of IP addresses, time of day or day of the week. It can run anywhere from banner to text ads to popups. The only downside is that the system does not allow advertisers to change their banners - they have to submit it to us. The old version allows this capability but the developers found this to be a weakness in the system that hackers can exploit so this option was disabled. Nonetheless, it works well for us because we have some advertisers who insist on submitting a leaderboard instead of banners or some other funky sizes that we do not support. I suggest you check phpadsnew out.

Need some advice about setting up a website for my new small business...?
Hi everyone! I am launching a new business in September in which I will offer drama classes to children ages 5-12. With launching this business, I would like a website so parents can register children, pay monthly fees, find information on the program, etc. However, I am wondering what the best web hosting site is to use. I am not a programmer by any means, so this is new territory for me. Some have suggested Yahoo Small Business Solutions, but what else is out there? I need good customer support, decent web design templates (nothing too "boring" or "cookie-cutter"), and the option to have someone pay money via credit card (maybe Paypal?). So, anyway...please help. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I am willing to pay for the right service. HELP PLEASE! :) Melissa

I advise 7-angels.net for Web Hosting and domain registration , They have many things like 24 hour support team , fast servers , and affordable prices

Yahoo Site Solution wont start?
I am a Yahoo Small Business Subscriber. When I go to the Web Hosting Control Panel and select the "Create & Update " tab then the "Site Solution" button, it says "Loading", then takes me back to the "Home" tab of Control Panel. There is no message about a pop-up trying to load. How must my bowser be configured? How must my firewall be configured (Ihave tried the Windows Firewall and the Trend Micro Firewall)?

You can try a different browser to see if that might be the problem. However you can turn off popup blocking through the "tools" menu in IE 6 and through "tools >> options.. >> content tab" in Firefox. Then try it again. If you turn off your popup blocker and it still doesn't work, then you can first try skipping the router/firewall you have in place by directly connecting your computer to the modem. See if it works then. If it works then, you know it is a setting on your router. If you haven't already configured it with a bunch of settings, simply reboot the router and see if that helps. Lastly you can go in and check to make sure all your ports that you need are properly configured and make sense. Get rid of any entries that you no longer use and are blocking ports. Not only can this help with the problem but it will make it more secure by eliminating possible holes in your security from programs that you don't use not using the ports anymore. Hope this helps and good luck with the effort.

Business Information Software recommendations?
I'm in the process of starting up a recreation complex, and I am looking for suggestions for IT solutions. What we'd like is a Server/workstation setup that can handle all of our requirements, including: -Handle and Track Sales -Maintain a customer database -Manage keycard access for members -Maintain several other databases -Allow us to monitor and record/playback our security cameras -Host our web-page and allow our members to edit their own accounts -Handle our in house A/V systems -lighting control so what I am wondering is where to start... Is there a software package that can handle all of this, or would we need to have some underlying software (like MS Server) as the backbone, then run the each independent applications on top. I imagine we will most likely need to seek out an IT solutions provider, but I'd like to have as much information as I can before we do that. Thanks a ton to all who reply :)

Most off the software packages starts for accounting purpose of the business, which will cover few aspects of your requirements, and it will not be a package that will handle all of this. So, Buy a standard package (Quick Books) and for the rest you will need a IT specialist to put together. Good Luck!

Help us pick a new slogan for our company!?
I'm trying to come up with a new slogan for our web design company for our big relaunch. The company name is Web Development Canada. We provide design, programming, hosting and maintenance solutions for our corporate clients. Our old tag line was "your business- redefined". I've already thought of "Think Web. Think Us.", but that's too ambiguous. Replacing 'us' with our company name only really works if our company name is really short. "Think Web. Think Web Development Canada" is a bit too long. Any suggestions? Our designers are working on the new logo.

Well for the Think Web. Think Us. thing, you could go with: Think Web. Think WDC.

Where are customer/booking details stored?
Hi there, I have to do this assignment. Basically ive been asked to suggest suitable technologies for building a intranet for a small size business (40 employees) with connection to Internet. The business is an internet travel agency - selling holiday packages. So far I have established...that The company will require a Ethernet using either a Star-bus topology, routers,a high speed internet connection, and could either host its webpage using a web host service, or purchase a webserver to host it in-house. The latter one is the dearer option, requiring expertise etc..but I have not been given any budget so I just might suggest it. MY QUESTION - for the booking the packages..i guess I need a secure payment solutionthat customers can make their payment through. If I buy such a solution externally, how would the storage and transfer of customer details/booking work? And where would you suggest storing it - have a in-house database? SOrry for the Long explanatioN!!

I'm afraid I can't help you directly but why don't you phone / email some Travel agents - direct your query to their IT department. I'm sure you'd get someone who would help you. Personally I think phoning and asking to speak to someone in their IT department is best, that was you should get an immediate response. Good luck!
