Are there any web hosting sites that allow you to connect to a SQL Database hosted somewhere else?
I have a database at a location that isn't able to host their own web site. Instead I purchased a hosting plan from a company that I liked and everything worked great for months.
The hosting site was hacked and they updated their Firewall. Now I can't connect to my database. They said I should have never been able to, the don't allow connections to external databases.
Where can I go now??
I am working for a client who has a server with an application that all their employees use in house. I've made a web app that allows some of their clients to view and/or update specific data.
I really would rather keep them seperate as I don't want to have to replicate on both sides constantly.
I had a webhost (where I also purchased their domain) and it worked fine, but they tightened their security and no longer allow connections to an external location.
