Web Hosting Question For You?
I am about to launch my website for my business and was wondering if anybody out there knows of any company that does FREE web hosting or does web hosting for a reasonable rate?

If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) and use the homepage hosting services. In a sense, you are hosting a commercial webpage via the homepage link and incurring merely the monthly access of, say, AOL.com, etc. Nevertheless, should you want to link your current domain name to the homepage URL, you'll need to use a third-party redirection service, i.e., mydomain.com [which is free] or simply direct your domain name registry, i.e., godaddy.com to forward your domain name [with masking] to the link the domain name to your homepage URL. It's that simple. Good luck!

Web hosting as a service (rates)?
I've been designing websites for my local business. However, lately I've been asked this question: "How much would you charge to keep updating my website?" What do you guys normally charge for say 6 months, and maybe 1 year? Some of my friends mentioned that some charge up to 1,000 a year, but I don't know. Seems a bit high, then I don't have any experience hosting for others. I just design, set up, and they do the rest. Thank you!

"I just design, set up, and they do the rest" Seems that's all they're asking from you. If it's easy for you, and they're too lazy to do it themselves, take advantage. I say $1,000 for a year of site maintenance is fine. These businesses practically throw away money into IT stuff like this. The spenders usually have no clue about the web design market anyway... If you tell them that $5k is the low-end for web design, chances are they'll believe you without even thinking about it. Think about this, Geek Squad charges HUNDREDS to come to your home and set up your wireless router. There are instructions IN THE F***ING BOX telling you how to do it yourself, yet people still shell out that kind of cash because they're too lazy or busy to do it, or they think they'll screw it up. YOU are the professional here. You know what you're doing, and they seem to be happy with your work. Therefore, you set the price. You wouldn't debate your doctor's rates, would you? Of course not. The company wouldn't dare argue rates with you for this very principle. Don't hesitate when quoting a price for them. That's a great way of losing a client. They just want to pay you. Keep in mind that whoever you give a quote to won't be paying out of their pocket. They are spending the company's money, so they won't care if it seems a bit steep. Your rate will almost always be accepted, as long as it isn't outrageous. (don't quote $130k) I apologize if I sound like a greedy bastard, I'm not. I just know that ignorance = dollars. If they're ignorant about web design, they'll pay you anything to do it for them. ALL companies make money off the ignorance of their customers.

Does anyone know of any real good free web hosting sites :D?
ive heard of freewebs but im not sure what its like how would you guys rate it and also do any of you know any other free web hosting websites

It depends on what kind of site you want. There's a Google website builder, but that's not very advanced. Blogger and Wordpress are both good fro simple websites. Wordpress gives you a bit more power. If you know what you're doing, xm.com is very good.
