Web Hosting Control Panel
Can I design my website through my web based control panel?
The company thru whom I have purchased the web space and web hosting services is situated in a different state and I live in a different part of the country. I would like to take the help of a web designer cum programmer who can make a dynamic website for me. The website will be containing a feedback page where members can log in their details and these details are collected in a databank on my webhosting company's server and can be retrieved whenever needed. The question that I want to ask is whether the programmer can design a website from my place and in a way that I want it to be. I have frontpage, dreamweaver, design studio downloaded on my computer. The site needs to be linked to the different pages as well as different website on the internet. Also the site needs to be an interactive site where members can feed in their details, and those details needs to be segregrated according to the category of their presentations. Plz advise in this regard.
anyone can create/change a website from somewhere else as long as you have the corrct code mysql sequence and all that jazz....mysql and php is what you should be using for your database if your not already doing that. But you can also create from two states away and emial the files somewhere with littleto no trouble at all due to size of programs and coding..
I can't access the Yahoo Web Hosting Page?
I haven't updated one of my Yahoo sites for a while, and now I cannot "get to" the
tools portion of the web hosting page.
When I follow the help pages, I get to the part where it says Sign In To Your Web Hosting Control Panel, but when I do I am taken to the Why Choose Yahoo Web Hosting? page. This also happens when I try to type follow the instructions and put webhosting.yahoo.com in my address bar. I cannot seem to find a way or
working link that will take me to PageBuilder.
I have another site that does not have this problem.
Any assistance offered would be greatly appreciated.

I am working with a web design guy who I set up FTP access for but he now wants my user name and password to..
access my web hosting control panel so that he can implement the CMS he has set up ...does this make sense?
So granting FTP access isn't enough, it sounds like he needs my user name and password and then would be able to read all of my e mail and see all of billing info ?
Yeah he needs the user name and password to upload the file to your web server.

Web hosting question...?
I'm opening a web hosting company. Is it alright to have hosting without a control panel? Would I still get customers if my hosting packages don't include a control panel?
I wouldn't suggest it. The point of having a control panel is to make it user friendly. In fact here is a list of the ones I know that exist.

What is the best way to secure control panel access to multiple web developers?
Multiple websites are hosted with one hosting company, however only one control panel is provided for both sites. Each website has a different technical contact person. What’s the best way of providing secure access? FTP only access can be granted to each tech contact, but they may need control panel access to set up/modify SQL DBs etc.
The concern: In providing full control panel access, how does one really know what the technical contact is up to (i.e. is there a way to prevent/detect the tech from providing back door access for himself for the future, etc.)
Suggestion welcome.
I take it the "control panel" is in fact cpanel, and the second technical contact has an add-on domain?
The same company do another product called Web Host Manager (whm), which allows a global admin to set up multiple separate cpanel accounts.
If you're only paying for one cpanel account/license, then you should set up a password protected phpmyadmin with access to a set number of databases with fixed names.
yahoo advanced guestbook?
does anyone know what happened to yahoo's advanced guest book feature? It used to be available in Web Hosting Control Panel under advance tools. Its gone now. I use this for work as a log book. Employess use it to post ongoings of our Motel. Does any one have an idea where i can find this now? I dont have the patience to call yahoo, (very poor past experiences). I also do not need all the extra bells and whistles of the other tools they offer, besides, some of them have glirtches that yahoo wont address.
I've really tried to find a solution for you but so far all I'm finding is people who are having the same problem. They keep telling me to delete the darn thing and start over. Grrrrgggg! I feel your pain but aside from contacting Yahoo, I don't know what else to tell you. I found this site http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/geocities/commtools/advgbook/advgbook-02.html
but honestly, unless you want to reinstall the whole thing not sure this will help you any. If I find anything else out, I promise to come back and place my new-found info in the comments box. Good luck. Really hope you can find an answer to this one. It's a stumper.
