Does anyone know of a web hosting company that won't be bill me for the entire year in advance?
I'd rather be able to have it charging my account monthly. Thanks! I already know about Yahoo.

If you don't want to pay yearly, then they would charge you much more and may be you will end up paying 2-3 times the fees in a year. So just go for annual plan. If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account. I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well. Visit the site to check details. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ More hosting visit http://www.nicewebhosts.com FREE AD-FREE HOSTING. Do you know a web hosting company that accepts paypal as a form of payment?
I'm looking for a web hosting company, in the uk or elsewhere, that accepts paypal as a form of payment (I currently don't own a debit or credit card). I'd like to make a one-off payment to cover all web hosting costs for a year, instead of paying monthly bills. Also essential: Linux server with perl installed, cgi-enabled, and the possibility to access my user account by SSH console. Can you recommend any companies that fulfill the above?

Try Yahoo Small Business

Does anyone know of any good web hosting companies?
I am looking for a good web hosting company with similar services as www.bluehost.com, but who have an easier billing plan...preferably, a monthly payment plan.

I'd look at www.hostsearch.com. You can query all the hosts and ask for offers.

If I can not cancel a web hosting account, am I liable?
A long time ago, I created a web hosting account. The host was horrible - they never responded to emails, and their servers were always down. I emailed them several times saying that I wanted to cancel my service. They ignored the emails. Eventually the credit card I was using to pay expired, and I figured when the billing was rejected, they'd automatically cancel the service. A few months ago, I found out the site was still online, and it is running up a tab for my "hosting". I asked this before, and was told to just keep a copy of the emails I sent asking to cancel. The problem is, this was soo long ago I do not have any copies of the emails available. I also looked up an address for this "company", but found the address to lead to a yard care business. About two weeks ago, their site seemed to have went down for good. Trying to access the site just comes up with a page unavailable message. Since I had no way to contact them, am I in any way liable for the unpaid hosting? Also, if I do have any liability, would I only be liable for the unpaid hosting, or would they be able to try to collect damages too?

Emails are only a partial proof. Where are the located? Do you have a physical address? Do some investigating with tools like WHOIS... http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp Options available (in the U.S. anyway)... 1) Send a registered, certified letter. That way you've got a physical paper trail with a receipt. Mention in the letter that you're going to seek resolution via the legal system if they don't respond. 2) Look into free arbitration services. They're typically listed in the web pages for the judicial system in your area.
