Web Hosting Bandwidth
Hello, what is the maximum burstable bandwidth on Yahoo Web Hosting? How well can it handle a traffic spike?
This would be if the website got posted to yahoo news, or slashdot.org or a similar news site where you might have millions of visitors in a day, or if it gets mentioned in a TV broadcast and you have millions of visitors within minutes.
What are the bandwidth caps on the servers 10 Meg, 100Meg? 1000Meg?
In other words can it handle the "Slashdot Effect", or "Digg Effect" or any similar type scenarios?
On a hosted server you could expect to get 10MB/s for a short time. It couldn't be sustained and it would have to come from multiple sources. Too much traffic might appear to be a DoS attack and your sight could be shut down.
Question about bandwidth and web hosting?
Ok, I pretty much have a private server with no human set limits.
The specs are as follows:
Processor Speed (MHz): 1999.874
Processor Name: Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2212 HE
Total Memory: 131072 kB
I'm getting a new server this week. But I'm curious how much I should market my hosting plans for. I have three clients right now already. But the plans are pretty much everything you get anywhere else, PHP, Control Panel, etc.
Right now it's $4.95 a month for 10GB space and 15GB Bandwidth
$7.95 a month for 15GB space 30GB bandwidth
$12.95 a month for 25GB space 50GB bandwidth
So many hosts out there offer unbelievable amounts of bandwidth. And I doubt my users would actually use that much.. and if they were, they would probably be violating the overuse of server resources policy and I would have the right to suspend them.
So, do you think with the above information, I should raise the bandwidth I offer, and if so by how much?
We offer $2 a month more for every additional 3GB
Yes Lloyd, the site can be found at www.forrealweb.net
I apologize if that constitutes commercial advertising. But he asked, and he does not accept emails.
Lloyd, the hosting plan on the front page would be the Prince Plan.
Domains start at just $7.95 a year.
Sorry, I do not have a skype account. We offer live help during our regular business hours as well as email and helpdesk support.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I would be happy to be a customer at that price! Can you contact me soon?
edit - does your hosting service come with a free domain name (a proper one [www.qwerty.com]) Also, which one is you on the photo on the front page of the site? And do you have a skype account?

Rofl @ above. He asked for a website that offers hotlinking mp3 files. You gave an imagehost that offers hotlinking (but no mp3 support) and a file host that doesn't allow hotlinking.
At http://www.fileden.com/ you get 1 Gb space, 5 Gb monthly bandwidth and mp3 support.
what does bandwidth in web hosting mean?
Bandwidth is a measure of frequency range and is typically measured in hertz. Bandwidth is a central concept in many fields, including information theory, radio communications, signal processing, and spectroscopy. Bandwidth also refers to data rates when communicating over certain media or devices.
In website hosting, bandwidth is the amount of information downloadable from the webserver over a prescribed period of time. In essence, it is the rate [data/time], but the time in this case is not seconds but rather a month or a week. So this rate is not like 56K or broadband, etc., which are also bandwidth but are measured per second. Web hosting companies often quote a monthly bandwidth limit for a website, for example 100 GB/month. If visitors to the website download a total greater than 100 GB in one month, the bandwidth limit will have been exceeded.
Web hosting?

what do peole recommend, i was looking at unlimited bandwidth, unlimited webspace but i dont know if that is necessay.. is what is the best one to go for ?
thanks
Try theplanet.com, they have cheap dedicated servers.
There is no such thing as unlimited disk space.
need help for web hosting service!?
i needed a cheap high-bandwidth web host.. after much searching i found this: http://www.manashosting.com/windows.html
now my prob is that i'm a bit suspicious seeing "Unlimited Disk Space; Unlimited Bandwidth" = Rs.1500/yearly = 35$ annualy(approx) for 1 domain. Its too cheap! And what i cant understand is this: "Database Space 1200MB" what is this??
Is there any catch in this hosting service?? or is it clean. plz advice!
There is no such thing as "unlimited" anything in webhosting. They might claim to give you unlimited space or bandwidth, but when you start using up too much, they will kick you off their servers. They will probably have some "fair use" policy or something in their Terms Of Service (read the smallprint). What they are doing is called "overselling", and it's not a good practice to keep your servers stable.
Have a look at http://www.Radixhosting.com/ I've been using them for over a year, and what you see is what you get. No unlimited space or bandwidth bullsh*t. And they're quite affordable too!
