Vps Web Hosting
In regards to web hosting for a small online UK business for Uk residents, how does EUKHost rate?
http://www.eukhost.com/vps-hosting.php
Im looking at the Linux L-VPS-02 option with a control panel option
Do you just want space for a web site or are you going to be running applications on the remote machine? (Generally that's what VPS plans are used for)
If you're just looking for web space then I'd suggest taking a look at http://www.centelia.net
The economy plan isn't too bad, I use it myself to host a charitable organisation's website.
Question for web hosting pros..urgent...?
I have some VPS hosting with plesk. What I need is to automatically have a folder when I create a subdomain.
For example. I upload /software/ folder somewhere. After this I create subdomains. The /software/ folder is automatically put on each sumdomain folder?
is this possible and how do i do this? because i am sure it is possible since several websites I know do this.
Ewww Plesk. Get cPanel man. And forget about VPS hosting, get semi-dedicated. VPS costs too much and you don't get enough for what you pay. With semi-dedicated, you get all of the management with all of the bandwidth, more space, and put on a less crowded server, like dedicated. It's a win-win situation.

Drupal web hosting?
I've made a social networking site based on drupal and now i need to find the right hosting for it. The site has a pretty good chance to become very popular, but also a chance to pose no interest.
I was thinking of finding a webhosting company from where to buy a shared hosting or vps or something and then upgrade to a dedicated server.
My budget for now is 100$, but if the site is successful i can invest more. The hosting must have mod_rewrite and imagemagick. mcrypt and mhash are a plus but not required.
What would be the best way to handle this issue and what hosting company do you recommend?
I can fully recommend Hostgator Web Hosting.
I have used Hostgator as my web host for over two years now and have been very very impressed with them. Firstly they're very cheap but still give me more web hosting space and bandwidth than I'll ever need, the ability to host unlimited websites, a 99.9% uptime guarantee and great customer support.
For less than $8 a month you get:
600 Gigs of Web Hosting Space
6,000 Gigabytes of Bandwidth
Host UNLIMITED Websites
99.9% Uptime Guarantee
45 Day Money Back Guarantee
CGI, PHP 4 & 5, RoR, Perl
MySQL, SSH, SSL, IMAP, POP
cPanel Hosting
24/7/365 Upgraded Support

What is the best web hosting for small businesses?
Help! I'm usually the technologically savvy one, but when a friend of mine asked me what web hosting company would be best for their business, I had no idea. I have tried searching online, but I have no idea what most of the technological terms mean (such as PERL, VPS, SSL) The following is their requirement (they have a small business that sells less than ten products / services):
*They need access of certain parts of the Electronic shop (e-shop) to be restricted to certain members
*Unlimited Disc Space
*Unlimited Data Transfer
*At least 250 email addresses with unlimited storage and at least 10MB of attachments; catch all; free aliases; mailing list
*Free Site Building/ Design Tools
*Hosting of the Web Site & ability to accept payment through pay pal, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover plus Free Shopping Cart
*The ability for customers to create usernames and passwords to log in
*Interactive chatting between customers and support
*Site Statistics
*Online Gift Certificates and Coupons

hi - best thing for you to do is really to take a look at www.forum2.co.uk - its a great ressource for webhosting in UK, with good offers and discussions about different providers.
I run a hosting company, www.uk2.net - one of the biggest in UK, but we currently do not provide windows hosting :)
Best of luck.

PHP Output Compression - when do you use it?
Hello:
I have a small VPS hosting a smaller site with a php helpdesk. In my web hosting setup CP there is the option for 'Enable PHP Output Compression'
I've looked it up & it sounds good. but is there a downside to it? is there a reason that you *would not* have it turned on?
thanks!
I don't think I would bother. It doesn't gain you the benefit of code obfuscation as most browsers have DOM inspector add-ons free for download (yes, including IE). Also, it doesn't gain you a lot of speed in terms of transmission time. When you consider all of the data you send across the wire, HTML, javascript, CSS, images etc., the HTML itself is a very very small percentage of the byte count getting sent.
Check out this article :
http://nadeausoftware.com/articles/2007/03/don_t_use_html_white_space_removal_speed_web_site
That being said, it won't hurt anything either. Give it a try if you'd like, you can always turn it back off.
Cheers!
Does anyone know a truly high quality web host?
Hey Yahooligans,
First off, I'd like to list what I have used already:
WebsiteSource
ANHosting
1and1
HostGator
Some were decent and was a good run for the money but they always seem to have some issues with compatibility with eCommerce carts or have random downtime because they over stuff their servers.
I finally decided, I would either have to go VPS but I'd much rather pay $20 or below for a host, not $50. So as a last hope, I am asking the Yahoo community who have had personal hosting experiences to maybe give me a last glimpse of hope to use a Shared Host that can meet my needs, which aren't much at all, just be able to function with Zen Cart or let me be able to customize the PHP output mode.
So please make your suggestion and by all means, if you use a VSP now, let me know how you like your company. A VPS seems much more likely to work for my businesses.
If the VPS can also let me resell and create separate control panels, that would be a bonus! Heh.
Warm Regards,
Jason

VPS for small web hosting company???
I am wanting to start a small web hosting company, and want my expenses to be minimized as much as possible. Is VPS the right choice or any other ideas? Thanks.
Become a reseller for a reliable hosting company, such as GoDaddy.
