Vps Dedicated Server

is the httpdocs on a dedicated server the same as the public_html folder on a vps/shared??
Im new to dedicated, Im assuming httpdocs is the folder you basically install whatever web files you need to make your site.. theres also another folder thats httpsdocs which i dono what its about. I edited some files in httpdocs and they do show up on my site when i point the url too them.. is this correct? or do i need to make a public_html folder?

its ok, they are same folders. In both folders by default index.html or index.php is set to show up (main page) when using your domain name in the browser.
