im wanting to host a ventrillo server for a couple people can join but when i click the server application is a command prompt, i am not going to buy hosting so do do i host it from my pc

You need to run that command prompt, THEN connect with your client. Remember, that if you have a router, you need to make sure the port is open. (3784) Running the command prompt program (and leaving it open) starts up the server. Then you can connect to your server using your IP address as the server address. If you need to know your IP address, google "What's my IP address". Just make sure you leave the VentServer program running for as long as you want the server to be up.

Is it free to set up a Vent or Teamspeak server?
My friends and I want to use Vent or Teamspeak to play WoW, is it free to set up a server? And how do we go about doing that? Some of us are on PC and some of us are on Mac, will that be a problem? Thanks all!

I'll support ventrilo. First, both of you will need to download ventrilo's client program, and one of you will need to download the server. Everyone installs everything, then the person who has the server runs the server program. In a little DOS box the IP/port should come up. Give that to your friend and both of you connect to the server. Wallah, your very own VoIP server. I think the max like that is 8-16, not sure.

Is there any way on making a 25 slot vent server for FREE ? i have an 8 slot thats free but i need a 25 slot?
i need a 25 for WOW raids and it must be free ... in any prograsm ventrilo teamspeak ect !

Unless you can foot a server that is capable of that...your only other choice is to go with a hosting service. If you look around on places of the internet, some people have ventrilo servers that you can (with permission) simply hop in to and have your friends join in. There are quite a few servers out there, I'm sure you can find one if you can't host one.

Free Vent server?
The guild im in in world of warcraft does not have a vent server and we need one cause we are going to do raids,and just to talk if you can get us a vent server or have one you could let us use it would be greatly appreciated!=) yes thank you kevin i had heard they were coming out with that...do you know when and where did you find out?

Wait a few months and there's going to be no need, WoW will come with it's own ventrilo version.

server just has to vent: why cant people learn how to tip correctly?
i know this topic has been posted before but i just want to get some more oppinions. i work at a casual italian restaurant and i had a terribble weekend as far as tips go, i just dont understand why people will sit there and say everything was so great, youre an excellent server and then leave 10% or less for a tip, i had people leave $5 on $65 check, $5 on $84 check and my last table left $7 on a $83 check and these were just some of the terrible tips i received. what is wrong with people? i totally understand tipping poorly if the service is bad but if you have good food, good service and everything is great, why would you tip so badly? i just feel like if people go out to eat then they should plan to leave the correct amount for a tip, if you dont want to have to tip a server then go through a drive through somewhere, anybody have any thoughts? any cheapskates out there that would like to explain why they feel they need to rob their servers when they go out to eat? meli: i am in school thats why i work as a server, it allows a flexible schedule so that i can go to school but i also need money to support myself while im in school! i am required by my company to claim 15% of my sales as my tips and tip out bartenders and bussers based on this amount, also i am required to pay taxes on this amount, so i guess the correct amount for merely adequate service would be 15% but if you had great service i dont think 20% is asking too much so that it makes up for people who leave little or nothing!

How Do I Get My Vent Server To Work, Or Any Other Server For That Matter...?
I Have Been Racking My Brain For Some Time Now, I Am Trying To Set Up My Computer To Host...Anything... But I Cant. All Firewalls Are Turned OFF, That Includes My Router(I Have A Lynksys WRT54G) I Have Tried To Put My Computer In The DMZ. I Have Tried To Open All Ports(0-65535 On Both UDP And TCP(And Each Individually)) If I Go To DynDNS.com It Tells Me That I Am Open With UDP, But TCP Times Out. I Can Connect To My Own Server Using 127.0.0.1 Or localhost, But I Can't Connect Using My Own IP, Nor Can My Friend. I Have ATT Yahoo DSL, And I'm Using Windows Vista(Had Same Problem With XP). I Am Pretty Experienced WIth Computers And Networking, I Just Havn't A Clue What Could Be Wrong... Please Help! Thanks For Everything And Anything. Thank You Tracy L! What is the IP of the computer? When you connect to the Linksys, the router will issue a DHCP ip to it. The default LAN IPs are usually like 192.168.1.100 - 150. So you computer should have one of those addresses. You need to know that FIRST. and if its a server you SHOULD set it to a "static" IP outside the DHCP range. I would say set it to 192.168.1.10 with a 255.255.255.0 subnet and 192.168.1.1 gateway and use 192.168.1.1 as the dns server as well. Then you can set THAT IP in the routers DMZ so that all incoming traffic will go to that internal IP! (If you use DHCP your internal address may change and then the server doesn't work!!!!) The way this works is your EXTERNAL IP hits the router the router says OK and FORWARDS that request to the correct INTERNAL IP (that's what the DMZ does) Your server has to always be on that internal IP! (You can't set your server to the public IP UNLESS you have more than one IP address because your router will have the Public IP assigned to IT and you can't use any single IP twice.) From INSIDE you should be able to ping and to pull the internal address from any other LAN computer http://192.168.1.10 (in the case I outlined) should get your server! If you can't ping it the IP isn't set correctly or the FIREWALL is blocking the request! Be sure you allow the firewall to pass traffic to all the ports you need! (DONT open UDP unless you really need to, its an invitation to easy hacking!!) The fact that 127.0.0.1 works just means the loopback is active.. try the real IP (and that has to be a LAN IP not a public one UNLESS you have multiple public IPs) and configure the system properly! All that being said, AT&T DSL may well NOT ALLOW SERVERS!!!! So you need to check your terms of service! It is possible that your server will only work on your local LAN! Usually ISP's get more money to allow servers because you need more UPLOAD speed for them to work well.

how do i completely ghost in vent servers? i own the vent it fhat changes.?
is there like any way i can ghost w/o that ghey little "p" nxt to my name in the channel im trying to ghost in?

Uhh.. Its a Phantom. And only admins can use them. People can see these Phantoms But their not the Admins, They are just a copy of the admin that can be used for listening in other channels.
