Unix Webserver
Is it possible to create primary/fallback webserver configuration on UNIX?
Hi, is any webserver on UNIX (Roxen, Apache...) capable to run on 2 different IPs in primary/fallback mode? How is configuration achieved, could that be done with multiple A records for server in DNS configuration?
In order to set something like this up, you need to be looking at setting up a cluster. Some OS's support this, and there are some hardware solutions (Foundry makes one) that do it as well.
You can't really do it with DNS records though. If you're getting enough hits to have to worry about this, you need a more robust solution than anything you could do with DNS.

It depends on your web server software. Front-page extensions uses MS ASP functions for server-side scripting, and the Apache web server has a plug-in available for running ASP programs.

what is the webserver used in NT and Unix?
The Apache HTTP Server Project is an effort to develop and maintain an open-source HTTP server for modern operating systems including UNIX and Windows NT. The goal of this project is to provide a secure, efficient and extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current HTTP standards.
