ok, is it possible to host someone else's subdomain, if you weren't the one who gave them the subdomain? if so, do you know how?

What do you mean by "host someone else's subdomain"? For example, you have you.blogspot.com and you want to host it somewhere else? In order to hose the subdomain somewhere, you need to have access to the DNS records for the domain and make the modifications. This means you will need to have access to DNS zone records of "blogspot.com" to point "you.blogspot.com" to the new host.

hosting subdomain on a separate server from where the TLD is hosted?
I have a client who owns a certaindomain.com and wants to host forum.certaindomain.com on a server I own. I've created the subdomain on the server i own. The question: does the client need to create an entry on their server to point to my server for that subdomain to get this to work? Anything else I or the client need to do to get this to work?

whoever control DNS for that domain will need to add an entry for the subdomain to point to your server's IP address. oh.. and a TLD is the .com part. certaindomain.com is the domain name.

Is it completely free to maintain a wordpress blog that is hosted w/ a subdomain?
i was accepted as a hostee and i got a free subdomain hosting... question is when i download wordpress for blogging will i have to pay anything else to maintain it? please help i am a beginner at this ;_;
