What is needed to host an online file storage site?
I want to develop a site whereby employees can store their work files online.

youtube has a limit of like... 100 mb or something. I need to upload videos larger of a friend of mine's concert. Any websites that I could go to? Photobucket has the same limit.

Where is SAN (Storage Area Network) Switches connected? Is it between host & the server or what?

How can I prevent my Yahoo E mail photos from ending up in the downloads column of the host computer?
I receive photos on my yahoo E mail and I transfer these photos to a USB stick for storage.Unfortunately these downloaded photos end up in the download list of the host computer.How can I prevent these E mail photos from appearing in the host computer,s "downloads"..The owmer of the computer demands that I delete them...

because they're the lowest? Seriously, you have to ask them if you want to know the reason behind their policies. One thing though, is that many (or most) web host vastly overstate the size and bandwidth available to users on the server -- knowing that most users will never really use all the space. It's like an airline selling three tickets for each seat on the plane and hoping that only 1/3 of the passengers actually show up.

For webservers it really isnt a question of memory and storage, its a question of bandwidth. You have to have enough for everyone who may want to visit your sites and that can be alot at any single moment The minium should be no less than 1.5 out and 1.5 in (T1 if you will) Once your sites get busy that will not be enough either. To setup a server just add apache its the most popular webserver software today. Can be loaded on any OS although you are better off with linux, unix, freeBSD etc.

I love photobucket. You can't get a better free host imaging website that is easy as them. You can upload video and images and then they give you your code so you can put it on your myspace, a forum, or any other website.
