Do you know any web hosts who are not too expensive on charging for SQL server hosting? The one I have costs something like 25 dollars to set up *each* database and then 5 dollars a month. Is this unreasonable? Is there a better deal out there?

Is it possible to host an SQL database server from within the Yahoo webspace environment?
I have an SQL database running on my local machine that has a browser interface for viewing the data. Is there somewhere or some way to upload this to my Yahoo webspace (in GeoCities??) that would allow me to add and view information in the database from a general internet browser? I guess I'm looking for an SQL hosting server...?

Short answer NO yahoo will not let you do that. Now they have database services that come with their hosting packages (mysql I think) but you can not access those databases externally. Call yahoo and ask them. It is not very hard to set up your own database in your environment. Hope that helps RJ

An SQL database is created for you on the hosting server. The only way you can access it is to have a copy of MSSQL.

How can SQL Server NOT be run from a hosting server? You'll have to contact your hosting provider. They may or may not provide SQL server support and may or may not support SQL databases. With such a vague question, it's dificult to give you a definite answer.

Our system at work is planning to use a RAID 1 disk system for redundant storage. The server PC will host Microsoft SQL server 2005. Are there any known incompatibilities with RAID in this configuration? How about RAID 1 on a client PC hosted by XP?

There are no problems with RAID 1. IF it is done using a proper RAID card. - RAID on home machines is used by gamers. to speed up loading times. but mostly RAID 5 is used.
