I see it has you get a free domain name is that www.yahoo.com/yourbusiness name or is it www.yourbusinessname.com I don't know I'm thinking i need to get a website for my business so that people can just send a check/money order/pay paypal for my stuff. If you're only loading static pages, you may be okay with Yahoo Web Hosting, but forget it if you use dynamic content with a database. (I believe this includes all of the popular blogging tools.) I recently set up a PHP/MySQL site on yahoo hosting, and through Google Analytics discovered a few weeks ago that my traffic had dropped considerably for no apparent reason. When I went to my site, I got a message (built into the open source CMS I use) saying that the site couldn't connect to the database. I spent an hour or so on hold to reach a rep by phone, and the rep was courteous, etc. After some research, the rep told me there were others reporting this problem, and the cause was the web servers not connecting with the database servers. They sent a follow up email a day or so later saying the problem was fixed, blah blah, but it wasn't. I had to send a couple of messages back and forth to convince them the problem was still present, explaining that I had set up Google Analytics to log the error message. After a few days the problem disappeared for a week or so, but now is back with a vengeance. Now it takes longer for the error to appear on-screen, sometimes a couple of minutes, meaning most visitors won't even stick around long enough for my error message to appear. I'm shopping around for a new provider.

Can you apply Forum software to Microsoft Office Live Small Business website builder?
Curious. It's an awesome setup for a basic website, but my site is solely a forum site for discussion. I just didnt want to go through those other 'free forum hosting' sites because my ultimate goal is to make money for me, not them. Anyone have any recomendations on a host if Microsoft doesnt work? I heard LunarPages was decent.

Suggestions on the best website or plan that would allow for a small business?
I don't know very much about websites and need some information . I understand that there are different types of website hosting plans. I am wanting to start a small business and need a website to promote my product. The problem I have found out is that on some website plans you seem to be given very little ownership of the site. I need a site that I can design myself, change when I want to ...add things, change them...add text to the resource page etc. Of course I would follow the hosts rules however I would like to have full control of designing my site. Is there someone that could tell me what I should be looking for as to the type of plan...How much I may expect to have to pay per year for it? Where to find the plan?

Here are the steps you need to take when creating your online business: STEP 1: Set Your Goals - Why do you want a web site? What is the size of the online market? What are the goals for your website? STEP 2: Develop Your Web Site Strategy - Who is your website target audience? What typically appeals to your target audience? How are the other websites (your competition) reaching out to this target audience? How will you measure your performance? STEP 3: Set-Up Implementation Plans - What name will you give to your site? How do you envision the design of your web site? How will you create your website? How will you create your content? How will you maintain your website? STEP 4: Start the Ball Rolling - Do you have a logo? For e-retailers, do you have the critical components needed to run an e-commerce site? How are you going to host your site? STEP 5: Create and Launch Your Web Site - Have you uploaded your site with your chosen web host provider? Are the scripts and application you need for your website functioning well? Have you tested your website? STEP 6: Promote Your Web Site and Measure Its Results - Do you have a plan in place to market your website? Do you regularly review your traffic logs and web site performance tracker? How are you going to get sites to link to you? Do you know the search engine keywords that you rank well? If your site is not visible in the search engine results pages for its keywords, what strategies do you intend to do?
