Small Business Web Hosting Plan
Recomendantions please..What do you think on this web host for my small business?
I am still searching for a web host that I can afford right now for my small business.. i do like bluehost, hostmonst but they are so expensive for me at the moment..i am needing for one that has a month to month plan,2 or 3 months..and only for one year if is not that much money bluehost,etc..
I need some opinions about this web host that i found today..does anybody has used them before? good or bad??,etc
www.fatcow.com and www.hostpapa.com
thank you for your time..
The cheapest monthly payment option I know is the Godaddy Deluxe hosting. It's $6.99/month if payed monthly. You can get a domain name from them for $2.19 if you buy it with hosting.
So your total costs would be:
1. The first month: a domain name (like yourbusiness.com) $2.19 + monthly Deluxe hosting $6.99 = $9.18 Total
2. Every month from then on -> $6.99
3. You can cancel at any time.
P.S. Godaddy currently has a 20% sale (it's not advertised on their site) Check it here: http://www.hosttell.com
I'm trying to startup a webpage for my "Event Coordinating" Business..?
I was looking in Yahoo Small Business web hosting, but I could not figure out what plan is best for me to purchase. Just to give you a bit of imformation about my business. I'm not really interested in multiple e-mail accounts unless it's just a perk with a reasonable package. I will have a lot of graphics because of pictures of my designs for (receptions, weddings, etc). That's just the basics. If anyone could help me. It would be greatly appreciated.
I run biopharmnetwork.org. I started by buying the domain at GoDaddy [sic] because I have dealt with them for my wife's business over 10 years. I then used the domain to set up a site on Google Sites. Google sites is free, without advertising, and you get free e-mails. You don't have to buy your domain through Google's affiliate - they charge more, have less domains, and from the help forums I get the impression they seem to make mistakes. Google has clear instructions how to set up your domain at GoDaddy to use their sites and e-mail, plus plenty of other documentation.
GoDaddy has good human customer service and technical support. Google doesn't seem to have any.
I want to do more than Google will allow and while their page editor is easy to start with my group has grown to 20,000 and I found some limitations, so I paid for the lowest level of hosting at GoDaddy ($70/yr). That's working out fine, and is probably as cheap as any non Google host without advertising. I am in the middle of transferring some content from Google to GoDaddy and will leave some on Google. Take a look at my site - as a club site it is meant to look a little home made - then check out Google Sites and GoDaddy. E-mail me with any questions. I'll send you a phone number if you want to talk it through.
I agree with the previous answer - you need to present a professional face to your customers. To be cost effective, you will need a clear concept of your site before you talk to a developer. I would look first at GoDaddy's development service and use that if it seems OK, to keep a single point of responsibility (as a project manager, l love single point of responsibility). I don't think many professional developers would work on Google sites, but I believe Google has a few listed as outside resources.
If you don't have a domain name yet, make sure you pick one that somehow conveys the essence of your business and is not too long.

PS: Out of curiosity, I went looking afterward for independent reviews of web hosting services. The last two links get you there. I have no experience with any of the services mentioned. M
the help http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus/index.php of smallbusinesses is not working nad i want t ask
sorry if my question is not directly relevant but i was searching a way to ask about your small business web hosting plan at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus/index.php and is not working. Anyway i wanted to ask you if i am allowed to have more that one domain name under the same web hosting plan and i also wanted to ask if there is an ssh access to my account. Thank you, George.
thank you for your reply, i did not mean subdomains but different domain e.g. www.mydomainame1.com & www.mydomainame2.com. on other web hosting providers a new domain is added as a subdomain on the main one e.g. mydomainam2.com is pointing to mtdomainame2.mydomainname1.com
yes, you may have many subdomains under the one main domain. log into your account and click on home. you will be able to locate domain heading and that is it
What is the best source for a small business owner with moderate web experience to build their own website?
I am not a beginner, but not an advanced coder either. I started with godaddy for name and hosting, but their Websitetonight product does not give me the polished look I want. I don't think I need something like Dreamweaver because I don't plan on building again after this. I cannot find a web-based option that has lots of great-looking prebuilt pages - this would be ideal. I don't really have the budget to hire a pro. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Go to Yahoo! and start a website.
I am making a web site for a small business...couple questions.?
My plan is to buy Adobe Dreamweaver.
Will I be able to publish my website to the internet using Yahoo! Small Business Domain Hosting?
And Have any of you used Dreamweaver?? How is it?
Yahoo web hosting sucks. I am hosting my websites at http://aplis.net/ , you can also give them a try.
Starting up a new online small business - register for vat and companies house?
Hi,
My sister and I are keen to start up a small online business (retail) and its going to be more of a hobby than a big business venture.
I've read up about domain names, web hosts, web builders and editors, copyrights and trademarks, etc ... the thing I am abit confused about is:
1. Do we have to register with Companies House as a requirement? Or is it not neccessery? I can't work out if they are a legal requirement?
2. Although we dont plan to earn big bucks and will likely not make over the tax allowances, do we have to register vat and add vat to out items??
Sorry if this sounds stupid. You see lots of little online stores and myspaces selling items and their prices dont look like they add tax...
Thanks,
Charlene
I should have added - I work fulltime and already pay NI and tax ... so i would not register as self-employed as it would be something on the side, or would I?
Thanks for the comments so far! As this will be a sideline hobby, we aim to spend as little as possible. I dont think we will be paying alot of tax on items because they will be focused around crafts and things we or people have made for example.
Therefore, would we still have to add tax to the items we sell? I looked on the inland revenues site and its so confusing! Its says about not paying tax if your under a certain amount, but it stills implies you may still have to register???
... I think i will buy a book as well! :-)
-------------------------------------------------------
Thanks, that looks great. Although I still dont understand if i am required to register in the first place or not? Cheers!

Thanks for all your great answers, you've really helped!! xx
You will need to register you business and pay tax on any proofits you make. It may well be worth paying for a bookkeeper for advice as they often save the money spent several times over with the advice they give.
As for VAT, if its a small business, you only need to be registered for VAT if turnover is over around £80,000 so I wouldn't worry about it.
Buy a book on start-ups and it will give you all the advice you need.
My advice, don;t ignore payng tax as if you do, they'll come after you and the fines will be impsoing and they'll never leave you alone.
Edit. There are two types of tax. First is VAT which you need no worry about as you will be under the threshhold. The 2nd is income tax which is the tax on your profit. That is, you add up all the money you have made in the year, less any costs (materials, advertising, machinery etc etc) and what is left ois the profit you have made. You then pay tax on this the same as you paying tax on your salary.
How do I go about getting my own web domain?
I want to register the domain www.masontrenching.com, for my small business. What the best budget way to find and host it. I plan to do all the web designing myself. Thanks

What is the best web hosting site for the money?
I can't afford spending a ton of money on my business website. I'm thinking more along the lines of $100, or a small monthly fee, say $10. (I don't plan on any e-commerce.) Just a nice, well-designed, professional site, with NO ads.
I already have a domain name through GoDaddy. Should I just use them? I don't have any "coding" knowledge, nor the time to sit down and design it myself. It's going to take long enough coming up with the content. I will need templates and just feed the information into them.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
