Setup Virtual Hosting

How do I setup a secure VPN for a small virtual business?
How do I setup a secure VPN for a small virtual business? What is needed on the client side? What is needed on the server side? Are there hosting companies that host VPN's for small businesses? What will this cost me?

I have setup a VPN between two offices with two VPN routers on either side that are contantly connected. There are hosting companies but in the long run that will cost you a lot more than two vpn routers. I have simply installed two Netgear FVS318 routers on either end and that allows eight VPN tunnels and its worked without a problem. Routers go for $110 each or so. And its pretty simple to configure.

How do you setup a Virtual IP address on Windows XP?
I need to be able to have an IP address when I'm not connected to any network. It can't be a loopback, so 127.0.0.1 will not work. Also, it can't just be a host name, it has to be an IP address.

Not sure why you would need this but go to network connections TCP/IP, properties, and enter the IP address

i have entered my pirate ip address and ended up on a page. how to port forward?
this is the menu Basic Setup DHCP Settings URL Access IP Access Virtual Server DMZ Host Device Admin Status Monitor RIP Static Routing Dynamic DNS Special Application Statistics Security Settings UPnP thanks in advance

Shld be under Special Applications

I Can't remotely connect to a PC running Ubuntu Linux, it keeps timing out... Please help!?
The Setup: I have a PC running 64bit Ubuntu in a virtual machine ontop of 32-bit Vista, connected through ethernet to a DI-524 D-Link Router. The virtual machine has a bridged connection with the host, the virtual machine has it's own static IP address on the network. Connecting to the virtual machine from within the network using SSH @ (on the host or another pc on my home network) through SSH works fine. Port 22 is forwarded on the router, the port is open in the firewall. So I visit www.whatismyipaddress.com to find the IP of my network, and again type SSH @. It spends about two minutes trying to connect before it fails and times out. It doesn't ask me for a password of anything. I'm completely stuck. Any Ideas? Thanks.

Are you sure that the router is configured correctly? I have the same router and I was not able to get the port translation to work for SSH (or FTP), I could only connect if the router was set up to port 22/22 with the static ip of the Ubuntu machine. On mine, in the router admin, I go to Advanced / Virtual Server, then I added Enabled SSH 192.168.0.10X (your IP) Both (I can't remember - I don't think you need both, TCP should be ok) 22 22 Always Make sure you check that Enabled box, it's easy to miss.
