Server Jobs

Are there any daytime jobs to do with server development, management and stuff like that?
I am wondering about getting a job in servers and I'm just wondering if there are any companies that do server jobs. Thanks.

A lot of large corporations have private servers that need maintenance. The trick is getting in - you wouldn't typically start there. It helps to be willing to work your way up - evening IT for a single facility, move to days, move to more centralized places, etc.

Why do people who take low paying server jobs expect me to pay for the rest of their wage through tips?
Your employer should pay you a decent wage or get a real job.I mean the price of food in restaurants is already expensive and you want a tip.ha ha get a life. ok, so i do windsheilds for aliving which is a service.Idont get tips for doing a good job.the incentive is that i get to keep my job.man some people are stupid.

The tip is a commision for how well they do their job. It's just how it works. If you don't want to pay the high price of restaraunt food, THEN DON"T GO. The tip is part of the meal cost. I bet you run the servers nuts and make a big stink about everything too? I REALLY hope you frequent the same joints. You have no doubt ingested more saliva, snot, and other unmentionables than you can imagine. Yeah, and I bet you get paid A LOT more than 2bucks/hour.

Which job is better at a hotel: banquet server or room service? How's the pay at these kinds of jobs?
Which one is better in general? and which one has better pay? Banquet server: set up/take down for events and serve food. Room service: (not housekeeping) delivering food to rooms.

In Chicago the Banquet servers drove jags and owned their own homes (if not several) and the Food and Beverage managers and admin.'s rented apartments and used public transportation. Why? cause the servers got paid based on a fixed 18% tip from the total cost of the party, so if 35 servers worked a party/convention were the total food and beverage ticket came to 150K they each walked away with about $771 for 6 hours work or about $129 bucks an hour. If they worked 5 parties a week for 6 hours with similar cost, they walk away with a little less than $4000.00! These kinds of parties or meetings are common in Chicago or other convention type areas. If you are in a non convention area then the money for room service may be better.

25/m Looking for a decent part time job. Please no Internet scams or server jobs.?
I have a part time job that pays really well. However I work 3 months on and 1 month off and the one month really hurts me. I am looking for a part time job that pays ok nothing really high. If there is anybody that can help me. Please let me know.

Walmart & Lowes and Home Depot are always looking for part time help. If you do well and want to you may work your way up to full time. Good luck! If you live on the east side there is a new Walmart opening on Goldenrod Road.

Is it better to be a food runner at an upscale busy restaurant or a server at a casual cafe bistro?
I'm looking for a career as a server/ bartender as a sidejob for my acting career. I live in LA and server jobs are hard to get. I'll make more money as the food runner and i get more shifts, however, I'm afraid to give up the title server, even though its a server at a casual cafe. Which is more prestigious/ will help me towards achieving my future goals?

Food runner, you will make SOOOO much money!! good luck

If you are a restaurant server what are your favorite motivational games to play to make your jobs fun?
Am a manager and want my employees to have fun and also help grow sales but have a mind block when it comes to coming up with fun ideas. I would appreciate any that anyone can contribute.

Well, as a server, the more attentive to your customers you are, and the better you treat them, the higher the tip. If money doesn't motivate them, they are lousy servers- because they are LIVING off tips. I don't think playing games is a good idea, because it DESTRACTS from their job, and their job is NOT TO BE DESTRACTED. I would reccomend to these people what their wage is (probably somewhere around $2.75-$3.75/hour) and that the MONEY they make is based on how well they do their jobs. If they are not inspired, they need new jobs- you could help them realize that.

Where should I apply for a server job if I have no experience?
I really want to get in at a place to make some good tips, but I have no experience. Am I going to be stuck at Denny's?

I might not apply for a job at a 5-star restaurant, but you may want to ask when you ask for an application. there is training at places, and everyone has to get experience somewhere and be a new person at one point, so i'd say go for it! good luck!

What are the best ways of getting a restaurant server job even with no experience?
What should I show my employer? And where are some good places to start? I have a great work history and can prove I am able to multi task. Thanks.

You'll probably have to start in a different position if you have no restaurant experience. Hostess, busser, runner, etc. If you learn quickly and prove yourself, you'll probably get promoted in a short time. Turnover in the restaurant business is high. Just keep your customers happy.

Whats the best way to describe a server job on a resume?
I am drawing a blank and really need to highlight the customer service and sales portion of serving. Yes, I have trained new employees, interviewed potential employess, shift leader, as well as made the schedule for 100 + people

What's wrong with waiter or waitress? I would list the business establishment first, then my official job title, and then all my duties and responsibilities. Trying to glorify what you did with a fancy title (that's unofficial) will hurt you... as a potential employer, I'd see it pretty damn close to dishonest.
