Does the host resellers give a same IP number to all their customers?
I really like to know how the host resellers, sale accounts to other people? do they split the same account, that their host company provide them, and they give the same IP address to their customers? if the answer to this question is yes, first how they control the space have been used by their customers, and secound how the reseller can make sure that their customer don't share their IP address with their friends? and if the answer is NO to my question then how this whole thing works?

Hosting can be done with either a single IP with many domains or an IP per domain. Name based "Virtual" hosting allows many domains to share the same IP, the domain is pointed to the IP within the DNS setup, but once the IP is reached the server (apache or IIS web servers) will check the name and point to the correct directory based on the domain name. This is very common with low cost hosting services as IP's are in "short" supply and an IP is not needed for each domain name. In this scenario the domain is fully controlled by the servers allocation by name. Thus its called NAMED BASED hosting. IP hosting will put a specific IP to a specific domain. This is IP based hosting and usually costs more as it does require an allocated IP per domain name. The domain may well be contained on a server with other domains it just has a specific IP assigned to it. The server can handle many domains on one box, IP or Name based. They can even be mixed on the same hardware. (Yes, you can point multiple IP's to the same server!) The accounts are still accessed by the assigned domain name and username and passwords so "sharing" with friends doesn't work - the user only has access to his/her space on the server. Hope that Helps

How can I find out the hosing company of a particular website?
I need to know how to contact the organisation hosting my organisations website. I know my company bought web space from a company that bought a resellers package. My hosting company is messing me up, they won't release my domain name. I feel my only choice now is to contact the company main reseller. Please I need help, advice, Suggestion, in solving this problem. I don't want to loose my job.

Go to iwhois.com, type the domain name on the search box, and click Search. Then scroll down the results and look at the part where it says something like "Domain servers" or "DNS servers". If it says something like ns1.yourhost.com and ns2.yourhost.com, note the yourhost.com part of it. Usually that's the domain name of the hosting provider. So if it said something like ns1.hostgator.com and ns2.hostgator.com, then the host domain is hostgator.com. That belongs to Hostgator, which is a well-known hosting provider around here as well. On the other hand, it seems your main concern is really the domain name. Look at the WHOIS results again and check the line "registrar". The line "registrar" indicates who really registered the domain name. Your current host is likely a "reseller" for that "registrar". However, legal agreements between the registrar and their reseller partner force the former to refer end-users to the latter for resolution FIRST. If you've honestly exhausted all means of trying to get your issue fixed with the reseller but nothing fruitful happens, then contact the registrar and explain fully what happened. More often than not, the registrar has a process to possibly resolve reseller problems. I must caution you that this is going to be potentially more difficult than you can possibly expect. Don't expect this to be resolved immediately, but keep at it nonetheless. Good luck.

domian hosting?
I just bought a domain from net4domains.com. Its a co.in domain which i wasnt able to find any of the US based domain resellers. Now i want to host this domain but not with net4domains. How should i proceed?

Any decent webhost should be able to provide you an IP address that you can point the DNS record of you domain to.

Shouldn't there be some sort of regulation over domain name resellers?
I get so sick of dealing with this stuff. How can these people have the nerve to ask $100+ for something that cost them $8-$15 to register. It just kills me that i get clients that have certain domain names in mind, i search for the domains and find they have been registered, but the site is just some generic page with a big "This domain is for sale." When i tell the client how much it costs, it might seem like i am trying to jack the price up on them. I had one client that was dead set on the domain name, so i purchased it for $100 and then had to renew the registration 3 months after the purchase. I am very reasonable on my pricing when it comes to design, i dont pump the price of the registration or hosting up. How do i tell clients that the site name they want, which should cost $8-$15 to register for a year, costs 10-20x's more. I know i could appeal to the ICANN to try to get the domain, but the process would take too long. mike, that is true to an extent, but if thats acceptable behavior, then why would ICANN take domains away from people so it can be used for a legitimate business? They may have registered it and held the registration for some time, but they do not own anything. The government owns it. We are basically leasing it

yes there should and those should be illigal
