Rent Dedicated Server

If I get a dedicated server, can I use it for data backup?
If I rent a dedicated server (Not a shared server, or VPS) Can I use it for off site backups? Provided I order a few large hard drives with it?

Yes you can via the use of a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client that can easily be taken from the net but it is hard to set-up and difficult to maintain. I have a hard drive in my xbox and use my computer to store back-ups as the xbox disk cannot be read by a computer. With that in mind it is very troubling to set IP addresses and open ports etc. and you might also want to consider the speed of your internet if it is a dedicated net server or Ethernet if it is at your home or business, as if it is a large sum of data it will take a while to transfer all that aside if you have the space available on the server and the time to do it, go ahead

How do I rent a dedicated server?

Contact any web hosting company, many of them do this.

Dedicated Server Overload?
Hi, I have a dedicated server and the company I rent this from are next to useless when it comes to support. My server's "load time" has jumped from an average of 1-2 to 50-60 in the space of 3 days with no addtional programs / accounts been installed. The traffic to these accounts is EXACLTY the same as it always has been. Is their anyway I can check logs somewhere to see exactly what is causing the massive overload on this server? Thanks This is a "dedicated server" not my computer.

Have you checked the Task Manager to see if a process is utilising your CPU? Also, I would suggest scanning for viruses as these can also cause the same problems as you are describing.
