Is there anyway to register domain names yourself? without a service?
Is there anyway to register domain names yourself? without a service?

No, you have to be an ICANN certified "reseller" shall we say, to register domain names. godaddy.com is fully legitimate and one of the less-expensive options, and I've found their tech support to be incredibly helpful if you ever need to call and ask a question.

What is the cheapest place to register Domain Names?
Do you know if they charge a tranfer fee? Thanks 4 Ur Help It seems godaddy charges $6.99 per domain to transfer which can get to be a LOT as they add up. Any options to not pay xfer fee? Thanks!

I'm not sure if its cheapest, but I know it is cheap and reputable -- I always use godaddy.com

Are there advertisements [of any kind] on Yahoo-registered domain names? Is Yahoo the best to register with?
I'm making a website for my father's small business and I have a few questions about registering a domain name. I've built websites before, but never had my own domain name to work with and I'm a little confused. My first question is where are the best - but also cheap - places to register a domain name? I am planning on using Yahoo's domain registration service, but if there's some place I'm missing that's better, please feel free to tell me! My other, more important question is this: will there be advertisements of any kind on my domain name, if I register it on Yahoo? Let's say I register the domain name dadsbusiness.com and use basic HTML to upload a few web pages - will there be any popups or any ads on the site itself? I've looked all over the Yahoo pages devoted to domain name registration and I can't find the answer to that ANYWHERE. Anyone who can tell me, straight-out, if Yahoo-registered domain names have ads on any of the webpages will not only get ten points, but will get all my appreciation!

"Will i have ads or not?" is based on your hosting, not the domain name. I host with yahoo - i pay $12 a month - This includes hosting, domain name, e-mail @ my domain name and no ads. I've also purchased more domain names and simply linked them up with my hosting. Pretty simple and no one realizes that I only host at one place. All of my webpages seem like seperate sites. And even though I have html knowledge, I just go ahead and use their html builder which, after entering your yahoo ID & pw will publish your files for you. I've never had any downtime with my hosting. Never had a problem with customer support. I highly recommend yahoo for both hosting and buying your domain. And I honestly don't think you can get a cheaper domain than what they offer here. Believe me, I searched for days before choosing yahoo!! I believe that new customers get a 1 yr domain for about $3. And as far as hosting (includes domain) its generally $8.95 for 3 months and $11.95 thereafter (for cheapest plan). If you have anymore questions, please feel free to either e-mail me at chris@ksh49.com, or send a message through yahoo 360 or you can IM rt49andellis. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!! And by the way, I'm an affiliate for yahoo. Decided to sign up as an affiliate because I had a few people asking me to build sites for them. Yahoo is very reliable so thats who I chose for hosting. I didn't post in hopes of a sale, only posted because I hate getting ripped off and hate seeing others ripped off!!! (That's why I didnt post a link for you) I rememer that when I first started with HTML, I paid $80 for a domain and $30 a month for hosting. I was NOT happy when I found better deals!!!!! If you decide to host with them, let me know, I'll send you a link and we'll split the profit. :)

If I register new domain names and point them to sections of my website, does it affect my SEO rating?
Will it make my site higher in google, or lower?

It will have no impact at all on your position in Google, Yahoo, etc. The only reason you'd want to do this would be if you believe the domains you're registering might get type-in traffic, and you want that traffic to reach your site. So it might help in that sense, but will have no impact from an SEO perspective. Hope this helps.

how to register expired domain names?
I've seen some good domain names that are expired how to register it agian for me ?

Well, you can't register what's already registered. :P Anyway, read the sponsoring registrar's fine print to get a hint or so what they'll do to an expired domain name. Many domain registrars nowadays will try to auction an expired domain name to an interested buyer before deleting it altogether. A .com domain name especially goes through a series of "phases" in its "life cycle". It can take anywhere from 36 to even 76 days before one has a chance of possibly getting it, but whatever its current status is can give you an idea when to prepare.
