Rack Hosting

How to convert computer towers to rack mounted units?
I have two old tower computers that are hosting several applications on our network. I would like to convert them into rack mount units. How can I do this? Can I just pull the hard drives and mount them in new rack units? Would it be better to start from scratch?

The absolute easiest solution is a "rack mount shelf" and putting your two towers side by side on it. See: http://www.rackmountsolutions.net/Rackmount_Shelves_2%20Point.asp If you are concerned about the aesthetics, you'll have to actually purchase new rack-mountable cases, and pulling/reconfiguring your hardware is a whole other set of headaches. Good luck. :)

Good side dish for steak/lamb dinner??
I'm going to a late v-day dinner with freinds(we all work at a flower shop so we gotta celebrate later in the week) it's kinda like a pot luck. The person who is hosting is cooking a rack of lamb and steaks and then another girl is making creme brule for dessert. I am set to bring side dishes and have no clue what to make. I want something "upscale" to bring. Anyone have any good recipies?? And it has to be something that travels well as the hosts house is about 15 miles away. Thanks!!! Thanks everyone for your awesome ideas! I don't know who to pick as best answer since they were all good so, I'm leaving it up to a vote. Thanks again!

Dill Potato Wedges (Very good goes well with lamb as well as steak) 7 or 8 new red potatoes 2 cloves garlic, minced fine 1/4 pound butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1/2 tsp. celery salt 2 tsp. dried dill weed Wash potatoes well and boil until barely soft. Drain, and cut potatoes in wedges. Melt 1 stick of butter, in large frying pan (use only real butter) and saute garlic for about one minute. Add potatoes and the rest of the seasonings. Pan−fry the potatoes until they are lightly brown. Burgundy Mushrooms (Great with Steak) 1 1/4 pounds mushrooms 2 quarts water 1/4 cup lemon juice 4 tablespoons margarine 3/4 cup yellow onions, diced 1/2 cup Burgundy 1 tablespoon beef bouillon granules 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/3 teaspoon ground white pepper Clean and thoroughly dry mushrooms. Combine water and lemon juice in covered suacepan. Bring to boil. In another saucepan, melt margarine and saute onions until glassy (about 5 minutes). In a bowl, add spices and bouillon to Burgundy. Whisk until bouillon is dissolved. Add wine mixture to onions. Simmer over medium heat about 10 minutes (until alcohol has evaporated). Remove from heat. Add mushrooms to boiling lemon water. Return to boil. Remove blanched mushrooms from heat and thoroughly drain. Add mushrooms to wine sauce and stir until blended. Corn Souffle (Corn goes with everything and this dish is very pretty) 2 Eggs 2 Tablespoon Cornstarch 2 Tablespoon Sugar Salt and pepper Dash Nutmeg 1 Pound Can cream style corn 1/2 Cup Sour cream 1/2 Cup Milk With electric mixer beat eggs until foamy. Beat in remaining ingredients as listed. Pour into Pam−sprayed 8" square baking dish. Bake on center rack of preheated 400F oven 35 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.

I need to know how to add pcitures to a website and be able to click and enlarge them?
I ordered a web host from Yahoo Geocities and I'm trying to add a large mass of pictures to the site and be able to click and enlarge them it's to show pictures of a house and I have racked my brain I know a little HTML but just enough.

Colanth has the easiest way. Later you may be interested in doing a very simple small Iframe to 'show' the larger picture in. The user wouldn't need to leave the page. See an example at http://thurmania.com/Maps.html which works very well. In this method you load all the large pics on another page (the content page) and then link to them with a Target link. By the time a user has read your intro, the content page would be loaded and the large pics would appear instantly. Just something to keep in mind when/if you get into designing a little more. My sites are on Yahoo Geocities, too.

Dinner Party Questions?
I have hosted many a dinner party in my day, but I am hosting this one so my husband can clinch a big promotion. I have some ideas, but would like some input. The party will be for 12 people. When they arrive there will be English cucumbers spread with Alouette, and topped with a small, thin slice of smoked salmon and a 1 - 2 pieces of scallion on top. Does it sound too strong a flavor? If so what would you suggest? And what type of wine? For dinner we will start with a bed of greens topped with seared scallops and a lemon herb vinegarette. Then a rack of lamb roasted crusted with mustard and thyme, served with sauteed fresh broccolini in oilive oil with lemon zest, and roasted new potatoes. I need ideas for something vegetarian, just in case, I don't want to ask, but I want to have something prepared. Also, again what type of wine. And what for dessert. I was thinking some type of cheese in a fruit and wine reduction sauce, but I like something sweet. And a cordial?

You have put a lot of thought into this and I like your menu. I think the appetizer sounds delish but I would try one with/and without he scallions to see if it is too much. I am assuming you are using herb abd garlic alloutte spread? To get around the vegetarian. I would make a pasta with a simple oil/butter suace filled with lots of veggies. If noone eats it then you can heat it up the next day as I am sure you will too tired to make another big meal. Fennel might be a good ingredient in the pasta since you are having lamb. I have made a vegetarian pasta before with red, yellow and orange peppers julienned, red onion also julienned, mushrooms in the above mentioned sauce and it was very good and very pretty with all of the colors. Wine....I would have red and white available. Also, you might have whiskey, vodka available for any non wine drinkers (some people are affected by the phosphates in red wine). As for dessert I would go simple and use mascopone cheese. It is easily found in the grocery store and can be mixed with fruit in a variety of ways. I would serve it maybe in martini glasses to make it look all fancy. Good luck I am sure your husband will be promoted by the time the night is through!

Im thinking about doing an exchange to Japan. any tips/advice?
The main reason why Im doing an exchange to Japan is to experiance how different the culture is their compared to Australia. I would really like some tips and advice from poeple who have been to Japan on Exchange. Whats the host family like? was in nerve racking?

I have recently experienced that. I applied for an exchange program and last month, I went to Japan with my friends... We stayed there for 3 weeks. Anyway... It's really fun! At first, of course, it was nerve racking, since I didn't know what to expect. And I don't really know a lot of Japanese words. But it was really fun. I also met an Australian girl, she's 16. We both attended the same school there in Japan. Don't worry too much about the host family. I guess all of them are nice. Our host mom's really really nice. I'm sure your host family is, too. Know what, I didn't even wanna go home... Haha, anyway, I'm sure you'll have fun. I stayed in Kanazawa. It's a nice place. :)

Why don't Christians turn to the true God Odin?
Haven't they read the words of the High One? Don't they know we are living in the End Time and Ragnarök will soon be upon us. The Earth will be racked in the Fimbel winter and Loki will lead the hosts of Hel against the Holy Gods. Unless they join Odin and the Einherjar in the battle against the Frost Giants they cannot hope for rebirth on the Golden plain where peace and justice are forever. Is it just wilful ignorance or do they hate the good? (Irony warning!!!!) They can dish it out but can they take it? Please note the irony warning if you don't know what irony means I respectfully suggest you use a dictionary.

The 13th century eddaic account of Odin likely contains some Christian elements. The scene where Odin hangs from a tree as a sacrifice to himself has been suggested to reflect the crucifixion of Jesus, down to the detail of having his side pierced with a spear; however, archeological evidence, such as the above mentioned Tollund Man, clearly establish that this form of sacrifice existed before the time of Christ and thus is most likely developed independently. Other inconsistencies, such as that Odin was hung by a rope from a tree whereas Jesus was nailed to a cross (both wood, but in different contexts) further supports an independent origin of the myth. It is still likely that early Germanic Christians connected the two myths, moulding their image of Christ after Odin and vice versa, an effect that is also suggested by the Anglo-Saxon Dream of the Rood which portrays Christ as a Germanic warrior-king. Odin's son Baldur, a god of light, shares some of Jesus' traits as a youthful "dying and rising" god, but unlike in the case of latter, his resurrection fails and he has to remain in the underworld. The Havamal account of Odin's sacrifice positions Odin in the otherwise unique Pauline Christian attributes of a "father god" who suffers and defeats death. The similarity of Odin and Jesus was resurrected by Richard Wagner. Wagner's association of Odin with Jesus is treated in the Notes of the Seminar Given in 1928–1930 of Carl Jung. Recently, the German National Democratic Party issued T-Shirts labeled Odin statt Jesus ("Odin rather than Jesus") that were popular among the extreme right, but also among apolitical Neo-Pagans. However both derived from the same story. I believe what you say but i believe what christians say aswell. Does that make any sence? :P

When should I upgrade my server?
I am hosting a small website off of my home computer and I am starting to get a couple hundred page views a day. I would like to know when it would be a good time to move to a dedicated server and maybe in the future, a rack mounted server.

as soon as you can afford it.
