Personal Web Hosting
I'm looking for personal web hosting; any suggestions on where to buy from?
I require a database and PHP or ASP.Net. Also, I'm looking to spend only $100/year or less.

How do I add a gallery to my personal site with Yahoo web hosting?
I have a site with Yahoo Web Hosting, and I have used one of their templates for my design. I know they have a Gallery2 add-on, but I am looking for something more like Flickr - easy to upload and update - but that lives within my existing design.
Is there such a thing? Can you please help?
Thanks!
i remember something like this in the tools section of the control panel. Try doing a search for gallery or pic gallery, something like that. -- if nothing comes up, look through all the wizards -
also, if you have photoshop, you can make your own pic gallery + web pages in seconds with photoshop. Go to FILE >> AUTOMATE >> WEB PIC GALLERY
it whips it up for you in a few minutes, just direct it to the folder with the pics in it and it will generate all the html pages for you, with frontpage ( http://www.interkeys.com/htmleditor you can get an html editor and edit them to your liking.
What is the best web hosting service for a personal website?
I have recently been intrested in making a good website and I've been searching for good web hosting services. So I was wondering what would be a good option?
Considerations:
Windows XP compatible
no advertisements
get a *.com domain
cheap!
Microsoft Frontpage extention support
CGI script support
-----------------------
Thank you for you feedback, it will really help be find the proper services I require. :)
If you want your own domain for cheap (free)...Microsoft Office Live offers a free domain. By offering this free domain they are hoping to snag a large market share since nobody else offers a free domain. It will require a credit card for verification and they will put a logo on your site, but hey it's free! (They also have an upgrade option if you want to purchase).
BTW - If you want to actually purchase a domain I would recommend http://www.godaddy.com
Setting up webserver to host personal web pages using DSL from verizon?
Verizon does not appear to allow to do it unless you become a business account (more $$) . Has anyone set up a web server (apache) and have it accesible via http from outside? Any workarounds? they say it is possible only with static ip address. which you can get if you pay them large amt. The dynamic address of the router is not accessible or even pingable from outside with a consumer account.
I'd really recommend purchasing a cheap hosting package. The amount of money and time you will spend keeping your personal server up to date will far exceed the cost of hosting with a professional company.
Which is the best and easiest to use free personal web space?
not sure if there is a difference between free web space and free web hosting....i just need something small and personal and easy to use.
Your best bet is 1&1. For ~$6/year, you get your own
domain name, a 5 page website, a 1G mail box, etc.

What is a good all around web hosting service?
I'm looking to set up a personal web page with portfolio, etc etc. I don't have ridiculous bandwidth needs... any suggestions/experiences with web hosts?
Thanks.
If your needs are minimal and you are keeping it simple, you can get 10mb of space for $1 a month at sitelutions.com.
Check it out!
Where can I get a 100% free web host for a personal web site?
I'm looking for something fairly easy to manage and with templates for pages if possible...
well free webhosting is not reliable because once the bandwidth gets over people can not visit your website
The best one is bluehost webhosting since they offer unlimited bandwidth and free domain with their webhosting package.I also like the fact that on every signup they give you $100 credits to advertise your website with the google & yahoo search engines for free.

Tell me the name of some websites which provide free web hosting(personal website) like geocities?
they should be free
A google search will show you TONS of them. But you probably should include Yahoo 360 and MySpace. I assume that you are making a personal webpage.
Of course, if you are a minor, you should speak with your parents, and SHOW them printouts of your progress. They may be too busy to really be involved, but they must take a few moments to ensure your safety. You do not want to be a victim.
Good luck and Happy Computing!
Which Web-Hosting should i choose for a personal website?
is yahoo a good choice? it's a little bit expensive though.
The most important thing, in my opinion, when it comes to hosting, is make sure you get excellent tech support. Especially if you are not terribly technically savvy. If you are not a technically-minded code geek (and who is, honestly), then you want to find a hosting company that is incredibly patient and is available all the time.
So what you are going to be looking for is a really helpful, responsive hosting company that is just a phone call away. And when I say a phone call away, I mean a phone call away. Not some weird ticket system or website feedback form or Email support setup. We want someone who is there 24 hours a day with phone support so you can call them at 3:00 a.m. in the middle of the night if your website is offline for some reason, or if you have a question about some code that doesn't work, whatever.
I like HostGator:

Anyways, hope this helps.

Try Apache server and you could host website on your computer.
But if you create website and if you like to run your website 24/7 from your computer, you will have to switch on your computer all the time and it may damage your computer in the long run.
If you intend to create a few websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.
Visit Following webhosting , they are quite good.
