how can i use my pc as a server to host my personal website to be viewable ny others?
I need real step by step guidance/directives on how to achieve using my own personal computer as the hosting server for my own website . I have tried to follow the microsoft guidance on included with windows operating systems but i dont tend to get it right.

How can I host a website from my personal computer? Even if I don't have a static IP?
It seems if I am running winXP and IIS I should be set. What confuses me is where can I register my ip with the DNS server...Do I use the DNS server on my ISP? I realize I will have to update it everytime my ip changes but thats fine for my purposes.

you can use either no-ip or dyndns, i tryied dyndns as it was recomened by my linksys router, it only worked for a month and i didnt get very far, so i switched to using no-ip, they are both free serveices. allthough no ip has a nice little appliction you run on your web server and it will kepp it updated with your ip address you are conected to the internet with. you can also to configure it to run as a service as well
