What's purpose of offshore hosting. who can explain more about it?

It's when you host a website in a country other than yours...maybe for legal reasons?, or because it's cheaper?....you know what I mean.

Do I need to report any taxes in the US if I have an offshore internet site selling merchandises ?
Although the internet site is hosted offshore, but the merchandise are being shipped from the states. Do I need to clooect taxes or report income taxes ?

If you are a US citizen you surely must report the income and pay income taxes on it. The question of collecting sales tax is another issue and the answer can be much different depending on which state you live in. At present most allow the tax to be collected by the state where the merchandise delivered.

Does hosting a website in the US make you liable to US laws?
If I have a company setup offshore and I host a purely internet based business in the US whose only income source is online ads, can I be sued in the US? Do my terms and conditions need to reflect US laws or thos of the country of incorporation?

I am not 100% sure, but I do believe by hosting your website in the US, you are making that website subject to US laws. But like I said, I'm not 100% sure...=)

Whats an offshore server/host? Are they legal?
I was looking at warez sites and can see that they are still up and running and not being taken down, but there illegal. Is this because they are on an offshore host for the site? Like in Asia? If I had a warez site hosted on an offshore server would that be legal? Thanks

It would still probably be illegal under international treaties. However, it would be much more difficult for them to shut down.

This question would be better answered under the Law/legal area of Yahoo questions and answers... I can tell you that many folks use offshore servers for many different illegal things. Would that be legal? It would be both unethical and illegal to host a warez site that provided access to software someone had not paid for. .....

I would like to start a charity online lottery. Any idea how I could legally do this?
I live in the USA and the charity lottery would help lupus victims. By purchasing $1 tickets the once weekly winners would win half the pot with the remaining being donated to Lupus Foundation. There would also be free prizes (no purchase necessary) such as iPods, laptops, etc donated by major companies. All my research shows I would have to go offshore, obtain a gaming license, host offshore, etc!

UK Offshore Pirate Radio 40th Anniversary In August - Anyone Know Of Any Events Planned To Celebrate?
Hello.In 1967,the Labour Government outlawed pirate radio broadcasts from ships with their Marine & Broadcasting Offences Act. This came into effect on the 14th August 1967. This year will be the 40th anniversary of the demise of the best radio stations ever. My question is thus. Apart from Three Counties Radio who are doing a several day pirate radio special,what other events in and around the UK are being planned to celebrate the UK offshore pirate radio scene? Are there any exhibitions? Are there any TV or radio documentaries? Are there any tribute shows with DJs of the past hosting them? Are there any online publications or book publications?
