Can any regular joe buy a WEB SERVER for their own personal use?
I ask this because I am a bit confused about how Web Servers are managed and I would like to buy my own so that I can be able to host my own websites!!! Also if I could own one, would I also be able to own my own domain names? THANKS

Yes, anyone with enough money and expertise (or even more money) can buy a web server for their own personal use. And you can own your own domain names even without a web server (though you'll need at least a web host account to be able to properly use the domain name). If you want to just try out a web server, you can try turning your own computer into a web server. Here's a link to an easy and free package that well let you do so http://www.wampserver.com/en/ If you want to actually host your own websites that will be accessed by other people, you may want to actually buy one. You can either buy a web hosting account which will get you the ability to host websites but won't let you access the server itself. Or you can get what is known as a Virtual Private Server (VPS) which is like your own private web server but it has less power and is cheaper. If you really want to go all out then you can get your own fully functional private web server, called a Dedicated Server (They come in Unmanaged and Managed variants, If you don't know what your doing you might want to try getting a Managed one)

Is one machine will have more than one port80 bind to the web server to handle all the user request?

You can't have 2 port 80 open at the same time... even though you can have 2 different programs use it, as long as they stay within the bandwith limit of the port (set to 100MB by default).

How can I browse on my PC virtual web server using k800i through bluetooth connections?
I already managed to set up bluetooth network and microsoft IIS. I also made my virtual server. I also configured the internet settings of phone (proxy address, port etc) But when I open my k800 browser, it cannot download any thing from my PC. My final objective is to use my PC as virtual cellphone network server.

How can I set up a local/testing web server?
I just installed ubuntu on an old computer of mine, and now I'd like to set it up as a LAN web server. I'm going to install LAMP, which I think I can manage, but after that I'm a bit lost. Beyond installing apache, what things will I need to do to allow incoming connections? I have several CAT5 ethernet cables and a router... can I somehow connect these together so that my other computers can connect to the server? Would I hook the server into the "Internet" slot of the router? Alternatively, could I simply connect one computer to the server with a CAT5 cable?

The question is do you want to be able to get to this computer from the Internet? If you don't, what you would want to do is connect all of your PC's including the server to the router's LAN ports. If the router has only one LAN port or not enough LAN ports you will need a hub or switch, you don't want to use the internet port for your PCs or server. You may want to give the server a static (manually set) IP address so you don't have to guess at the IP address. You don't really need to make any changes at the router, just make sure your internet connection is plugged into the Internet port. (If you don't have an internet connection, just leave the internet port empty. You will just use the switch built into the router and don't need to worry about the internet port.) If you want to be able to get to the server from the Internet, follow most of the instructions above, but you will need to give the server a static IP on your network. Then in the router you will need to enable port forwarding of port 80 to the IP address of the server. You will then be able to access the server from the internet using your external IP (if you don't know it go to whatsmyip.org, depending on your ISP your external IP may change). You probably don't want to hook the server into the internet port on the router because that will put the server on a different network from your PC network (since a router is made to route information between networks, it also separates networks and would make it harder to get to the server).

If you're using a Mac, download a free FTP client called Cyberduck. http://cyberduck.ch/ A site created in Dreamweaver will be HTML based (that is, several HTML pages linked together). In Flash, the whole site will be contained in a single SWF file and embedded in HTML.

Now heres the problem>> i have a list of data that i need to upload to my web site (for example a list of staff's names, tel. n.o , address etc), and i want need to restrict my staff ( scattered around the globe) to check only his/her data only, bcoz the information is private ... The pages need not be very complicated .. only a box to fill in your unique data (your name and social security number) , submit it , and your can see your information..
