Managed Hosting Companies?
Can anyone recommend some reputable companies who offer managed hosting? There seem to be so many out there and so many websites claim to provide user reviews and rankings - but I have not found any to be helpful in differentiating between them - any advice? Thanks!

Startlogic. This one comes up on the top in all the comparisons. I use them myself. They offer the best price you will find and they have 24/7 customer service BY PHONE as well as chat or email. If you decide to go with them you can do so directly but I ask you to please go through my site. They have a referral program and if I refer enough people I can get a years free hosting. If you choose them....so could you. You only have to refer three people. My site: http://www.inetusadesigns.com (go to my partners page)

Is it better to resell hosting or have clients host their own site?
I am about to start a web design company which extends services to small/medium firms. I am not sure if I should resell the hosting to my clientele or build the site and allow the company to manage the hosting themselves.

You could do either. I would suggest you use http://www.hostamina.com as they are developers as well as web hosts and can give you a custom plan to suit your needs or they will give you a commission for every client you send them. You can discuss your needs with them either way - just send them an email.

How does the web hosting manage the web page?
In what way they do that?

There is a web hosting server, which has got different virual folders setup as websites...more like a schema...those folders are locked with a referenced IP address. So when you type in the website address...DNS reosloves the name to the IP address...and gives you the website to your browser! Helps??

Is it wrong to host someone's domain under a unlimited hosting plan?
My hosting plan (hostmonster) has unlimited domains in which you can host. They have a program (free) under Fantastico that you can install in your web site that is designed specifically to host other domains, manage hosting plans easily and so on. Can you host someone's web site for free without a problem? If not, why do they include hosting management programs in your service? Confused. Thank you.

There is nothing wrong with this, as long as you comply with there rules you have lots of scope. Before you consider offering this service, the people you host for will need domain names, and you need to monitor very carefully what they put on it, I am sure the terms of your contract will hold you totally liable for any legal consequences.

How to host 5 or more websites in one hosting account?
Hi, i have about 5 domains registered through different registrars like godaddy and namecheap. If i have built websites for all this 5 and wanted to host them in one hosting account, is it possible? Any recommendation in getting this done less expensively and easier to manage? Any suggestions with hosting accounts?

Godaddy and 1and1 are good places just for registering domain names. Many clients have problems with their web hosting services. Specially none of them are user friendly. You need a web host not only is supporting unlimited/multiple domain names but also is easy-to-use. As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. Have new website person hosting not doing updates?
I have a new website and the person hosting it is not doing the updates. The person has medical issues (not physical if you know what I mean) and will not respond to repeated emails and phone calls. They own the site name. Is there a way around the problem where I can get my updates done or do I need to go with a real company that can managed this for me. It's a great site I just hate to re-start at ground zero. Thanks and HELP! FYI- I am not a Tech sauve person.

teacher91298, I found a huge list of personal website hosting services. http://www.findwebsitehost.com Finding a nearby webhosting company might have advantages since you can visit their facility if needed.

I want to create multiple sites on a specific theme and want to host them with different hosting service.?
however i dont want that anybody whether an individual or search engine spider that all the sites are owned by one person thats me. can you please suggest me as to how i can categorize different sites to host on different server? for example i want to make 50 sites, out of which 20 will be very content rich and informative, 20 will have links with similar sites and remaining 10 will have copied articles, back links, directory links etc. if google or yahoo find that i am the owner of the last 10 category of site, they will ban all 50 sites. i want them to be safe and secure. can anyone suggest me a way to manage multiple IPs/hosting companies. Thanks.

It doesn't matter if they are all hosted at the same hosting company. Hosting companies have so many sites they couldn't possibly link them. What you need to do is get private registrations so that none of your information is displayed in the who-is lookup. You can do this at http://www.dakotawebhosting.com
