Ever worked as a server on the riverwalk in San Antonio TX?
If so where did you work, or where do you think the best restaurant is to work as a server on the riverwalk? Also how much in tips should I bea able to make on average dinner shift both weekdays and weekends? Thanks in advance, Josh I am moving out there in a year. I have been a server for quites some time and love it and plan to keep doing it till my body slows down at which point I will go into management.

How about going there for a short vacation and looking around? One thing I'd consider if I worked there is stairs. Most of those restaurants right on the Riverwalk have lots of them. The Tony Roma's by the mall is one level and has no twisty walkways like in many of those converted Riverwalk buildings. If you want to get into management, start the classes now.

So has anybody worked or now work as a server in the river walk of San Antonio, if so what is an average take home in tips on a weeknight and a weekend nite? Thanks, Josh

Should I be a restaurant server in San Antonio or Austin Texas?
Due to an emergency I am leaving to go to Texas in a week. Thats fine I have always wanted to live there, I just wished it would have been under different circumstances. I have almost 2 yrs of serving experience in upscale restaurants, (not fine dining but upscale) I know how to serve and present wine and can make wine suggestions. I will be in the middle of San Antonio and Austin, so I need to pick where I should go. I am hearing great things about both, so can you guys help make up my mind!? Thanks in advance, Josh

I would say Austin, more progressive and "with-it"...a lot of people who live there have lived in other places.

Moving to San Antonio? Looking for a server job on the riverwalk?
Hey all, I am moving to San Antonio, I am a 26 yo male, with lots of serving experience, and love the job. Can anyone suggest me nice restaurants to serve tables. Also do you know what I could make on an average shift serving tables on the riverwalk. Thanks, Josh

Any of the places on the riverwalk are good and they all stay packed with people all the time. Rainforest Cafe is a good one and they also have a couple Mexican places. The riverwalk is just packed on the week-ends, so I am sure you will make good tip money. San Antonio is a great city to live in. Good Luck

As a server in a restaurant, how do you work the customers for a tip? How do you do it…..?
I always start off by saying “how are you ladies/ guys/gentleman/folks doing this evening, my name is Josh, I will be your server this evening” I then pause for a second and then say “that’s the best part of being here, you have me as a server, now doesn’t that just thrill you” I always get a laugh from them. After the laugh, I say our second best part of this place is the Filet mignon, will you be having that tonight. After I take the order, I always check on them at least 3 or 4 times throughout their meal. If time permits I always try to condensate with them. I always try to make them laugh. When I see there almost done with their entrée I offer desert, they usually say no because there stuffed, I then say “well it’s great to take home also”, and sometimes they still say no, then I say ok well here is a better suggestion, you do the easy part and order it and I’ll do the hard part and take it home and take care of it for you” I always get another laugh. I just started doing this about 2 weeks ago, while my average tip was about 12 to 16% it is now about 22%. My whole reason behind the question is to learn from other servers, and maybe you can use my story and apply it yourself to increase your tips. So now lets hear what you do to get the good tips!!

I'm not a server, but your approach and attitude would definitely get a good tip from me! I hate people who treat servers as their own personal "go-fers". I like to communicate with the person who takes my order, and attitude can make all the difference. Keep up the great work!

Which would be better as a server for tips? Olive Garden or Black Angus?
Now I have asked this question 3 times, the first time I got all the same responses being Black Angus, second time same thing but Olive Garden, 3rd time got 4 answers 2 being Black Angus and 2 being Olive Garden. I would like to hear some of your personal responses and experiences with each, have you ever worked at BA or OG if so what kind of tips did you make, how well did you like it. I must decide by 3 o clock today. I have been offered a job at both places as a server. Thanks for all you inputs and time!! Josh

Definitely Black Angus.

Have you or do you now work at Black Angus Restaurant? How was your experience?
I just got hired on as a server. So I have a few questions for anyone who has or does currently work at Black Angus. How do they treat staff? If a server, how much you did you sell on an average night like 6 or 700 on a weeknight and 1000 on weekends? Did you like it? Were they flexible with you? Could you take someones shifts if they wanted a night off? Any other experiences you think may be useful to me....? Thanks, Josh

never srry about that

Does anyone know where I can download or watch free All That videos?
Especially episode 68 which contains Bully School, where Amanda Bynes is seen beating up Josh Server. By the way, have any other female All That actors kicked anyone in an All That episode? I know abt youtube, but they dont have Episode 68, i want that episode

You could try http://www.youtube.com and you might find something. It isn't legal, but a lot of people like limewire, as well.

For a server who wants to move into management which is better hotel or restaurant?
I am a server who love doing what I do. Which would be better for me. I am educated I have went to Services Technical training which is the militarys equivalent to hote and restaurant management? I want to move up to management obviously I do want more expierience (much more) I want to bar tend and, I want to get my feet wet with everything except cook. Which is best and easiest to move up a hotel or a restaurant? Also I live in San Diego, so if you thank you may be looking for someone like me you can email and I will give you my resume. Thanks, Josh

If you want to move up in hotel management, go to work for a hotel; if you want to move up in the culinary arts, go with a restaurant.
