Hosting Using Cpanel

Creating a homepage using Cpanel?
OK, so I have just got my website hosted and created an FTP account. However every time I try and upload a homepage file - saved as index.html, the index still stays as the directory. Could anyone please tell me how to change the index of my website?

Most likely you are not uploading to the correct directory. Try looking for a directory named public_html.

Does anyone else have ads on their cpanel when using Hostgator?
I called them and asked for the ads to be removed as I am paying for their largest hosting package. The customer rep. said that they weren't ads and this is the convo Scott B.: Welcome to HostGator, how may I assist you? jasmine: hi, I want to know why there are ads on my cpanel Scott B.: let me check that for you... Scott B.: what is the domain name? jasmine: ----------.com Scott B.: OK, one moment while I check on that... jasmine: no problem Scott B.: These are not advertisements. HostGator has begun to offer our Shared customers new cPanel features. Scott B.: Template monster is web site template company that provides amazing web site templates that are easy to use and soft on the pocket. Scott B.: AdBrite provides a service available for customers that need assistance with advertising and can monitoring the traffic received to help you better target visitors with relevant ads. jasmine: those are ads. I dont' want them. Can you remove them? jasmine: please Scott B.: We are not able to remove those from the cpanel. They are just options for you to use in the future in case you need them. what? why am i paying so much for hosting if they add ads to your cpanel? I am changing host companies anyone else have this experience? I shouldn't need to upgrade in order for them to remove ads..IF you paid for something and hosgator tells you they won't put ads on you they should live up to it. and how come ads can't be seen on their demo? If they insist on keeping it there than they should pay ME for keeping it anywhere on my site and that includes the cpanel.

Why not switch to a reseller plan? Then you can remove the ads completely and even add your own branding and theme to cPanel, in case you want to outsource some of your bandwidth.

Problems With My CPanel Webhosting Provider - Help Required?
Hello all, dont know if anyone can help me out, but I am having problems logging into my CPanel webhosting account. I get my website hosted by a company called Still Host, and up until yesterday it was all working fine, but today I cant log into either my control panel or e-mail accounts. It is coming back with a heap of text on the screen like "A fatal error or timeout occured while processing the directive". I have tried on several occasions to sumbit a ticket to my provider (Still Host) but as yet no reply or answer. Does anyone else out there have an account with Still Host or use a CPanel account that is having the same problems as me? I want to log in to change some info on my website but cant, due to this happening. Is there another way of logging in? Thanks in advance for any advice given

I used cpanel for a while and every now and again it decided that it didnt like IE, but would allow FF to connect no problem. Dunno if this helps or not. Good luck

what is a easy way to build a website thats is?
database driven?? Do I need to sign up with hosting first so I can use there cpanel and will this have everything I need? Or is there soemthing else I can do? This is for a simple database driven ecommerce site. Iam new to this, is this hard to do? I need it in php too Thanks !!!!

Just sign up at a place like Hostamina.com and building it will be really simple. They have Cpanel and you can instantly create your ecommerce site with it. You should avoid hosts that offer "unlimited" space/bandwidth as this is somewhat of a scam. You should also avoid hosts that offer ridiculous amounts of space/bandwidth, such as 10GB space for only $5/month. Hosts like this overload and oversell servers, and are bad news for anyone who wants reliability. You should also avoid answers here that send you to review sites, as those sites make money off commissions and rank hosts based on how much money they'll get paid, not on how good they are. You should avoid answers here that look like they are affiliate links as well, for the same reason. Hostamina.com is exactly what you need. Support is great! They will help you set up your website, and they will provide you with any help you need. Note that I am not using an affiliate link or sending you to a review site. http://www.hostamina.com -They provide awesome personalized support -They know how to handle all your business needs -They never oversell -They never overload servers -They offer realistic plans -You actually get what they say you get -There is no fake "unlimited" space or bandwidth -There is no fake "50,000 GB" space or bandwidth -They will help you with anything you need help with -They will put you on a super fast server -Every server has at least dual quad core processors -Every server has at least 4GB of RAM -Every server has strict account limitations -Most companies average 300 accounts per server -Hostamina averages 100 accounts per server -Instant Shopping Carts, Blogs, Forums, PHP-Nuke, Joomla, and more!
