Hosting Private Server
Hosting a private server with a router?
I have a friend who's allowing me to use the server he created, but I can't host it at my house because I have a router and can't find a guide to help me. Would anyone care to help a girl out?
You need to open up port 80 on the router if you want to access your server, but you didn't mention what your server is 'hosting'. Port 80 is HTTP, that is, a web server, but ftp servers, email servers, etc, all use different ports. If it is an active web server, than again, allow the router to share port 80.
How do I host my own Private World of Warcraft server and have people connect to it?
Hi, i have previously set up a private server, but of which i know, i am the only one who can connect to it... it IP is 127.0.0.1 (default) and i want to know if i have to change this possibly? Also, are you able to host off of a PC? Or do i need to buy a server? Basically, i want to host a server, have my friend connect, and be able to give so and so GM status and such. Can anyone help me.
you need to go into your router this info should be in the manuale and set the server pc's private ip to the DMZ zone then you can use www.no-ip.com and get their small program and set your server up on their site once this is done you use a site such as wowstatus.com to post your server and give everyone the server addy and the account setup page I hope this work's for you it did for me when I ran my server and will again when I get a new server setup. Incase you dont know to get your server's private ip on that comp use command window type ipconfig you will see something like this
ip address: 192.168.1.100
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
the ip address is that pc's private ip
runescape private server hosting?
i have a cheezscape(80) server i'd like to host on my 110mb.com homepage. i dont want the server to be hosted off my own computer because my router likes to make it lag. how do i embed the server into my website to where the website is the host. i dont know if you know what i mean, but sumone has too know. And dont say use no-ip services because that basically means its my computer hosting the server.
i dont play rs. I got this source code and changed it up alot. it looks nothing like rs and even more realistic. its like age of empires now (except not as good.)
i do have a godaddy account i could use.
its like a combination of java and javascript
I think you will struggle to run a game server on free webspace. With things like php its possible to create a server which can respond to clients etc. But i doubt that the runescape server works like this, they probably have a Java server. Maybe using RMI or CORBA or something.
You need a real webserver (which you will have to pay for) that will give you enough access to run an application on. If you want free.. unless you know someone else who is willing to run the server on their computer for free...its your computer or use a seperate computer to run as a server on your network or nothing.
If you give more detail on how the server code works, what its written in,etc, then i might be able to give you a better solution
Is there a way to host a WoW private server without running it off you own computer?
I want to make a somewhat local RP server, but I have to use my computer for both classes and school. Therefore, I can't have my computer constantly up to run WoW. Is there any way I can run a server that's not hosted on my own computer? If anyone has any ideas, it would be great. Thanks.
Private servers are against Blizzards TOS. If you have an active account with WoW, you agree to this every time you logon after a patch. Your account can be banned for playing on a private server. You might want to weigh whether losing access to your characters is worth it.
Running a private server is actually illegal and Blizzard is one of the only game companies to succesfully win a court case against the operators of a private server.
I am looking for a fast reliable web hosting company in Manhattan. (private server or VPS)?

What system requirements should i have to host a private maplestory server?
What computer parts should i have?
Well, I'd say it would have to depend on how many people you want to have playing on your private server.
If you're planning to just play by yourself, your regular computer that you play Maplestory with should be enough, assuming that the computer you play on runs the game smoothly.
If you were to have around 15-20 players on at the same time, I'd recommend a dual core system at 2.5 GHz (AM2 Athlon X2 4800+), 2 gigs of RAM, and a dsl/cable connection or faster.
I think the hardware is the easy part, though. Did someone already figure out how to host a private server yet? Last time I checked (last year), all the "private server" sites were paypal scamming hoaxes.
is thier a way to host a private server without using bandwidth?

Is there a way of hosting a server while your computer is turned off?
I currently am running a MapleStory private server, and hate leaving my pc on. Is there a way of keeping the server running and the pc off?? If you would please list the options from highest pricing to lowest pricing, it would be deeply appreciated
In order to share the file, the host computer must be ON and accessible
