If you had 12GB and 125GB of webspace how would you break it down into hosting plans?
If you had 12GB and 125GB of webspace how would you break it down into hosting plans? I am a webhost reseller and i am trying to set up packages and have been wracking my brain all night, going back and forth all evening trying to figure out how much to put in this package and then another package etc....etc... I pay $24.99 a month for the reseller account what you recommend? I want to be able to offer very cheap hosting so i have a edge on others yet I want to make a decent profit. Any ideas anyone? Also when you answer could you give an idea of what kind of website these packages could handle without taking up the whole server? I forget to add that I have 125gb of bandwidth to use and 12 GB of webspace. I am sure that makes more sense!

The best thing I can tell you is to shop the competition. Web hosting accounts that are really cheap are usually only about 100megs of space and a couple of gigs of transfer but that varies widely from company to company. Just check the plans from other hosting providers and set up what you want to sell. You probably will be selling mostly to locals so what you have to offer is service.. anyone can find hosted space. Make your services the important thing not the space etc.

I need some suggestions for web hosting providers that have very LARGE hosting plans...?

at $7.70 a month it'll be difficult to beat Yahoo! I was paying $10 a month with some other hosting, then one day they went down for two days which lost me $700!!! That was the day I switched to Yahoo and I ain't changing any more.

whats the difference with windows and linux hosting plans

Personally I prefer linux for a hosting OS. Windows adds lots of menu access for the administrator but its kindof heavy on the system load. I guess the biggest difference would be what you are used to.

What they mean is that the "server" is either Windows or Linux. So it actually doesn't matter what OS you have running on your home/work computer. Generally when they ask what server you want it's because PHP traditionally runs on Linux servers and ASP .NET runs on Windows servers. So it just depends on the language you want to write your code in (If you're just doing plain HTML and JavaScript then none of this even matters). But if you want to write in PHP go with Linux. It won't matter what computer you're running at home. You'll just need to download a Windows PHP server so that you can test your code before you upload it. And there's a lot of Windows PHP servers out there for free so don't worry. ...so in short, just go with the cheapest plan :)

so okay. i am creating a site for someone and they are willing to pay for the domain name. so we have a domain name. i know html and do NOT need a site builder. what i need is a free hosting plan that either you can register the domain name for the price already arranged (9-15 dollars) and get free hosting or get free hosting and transfer the domain name to said hosting plan. i need a free hosting plan that gives me about 150mb+ of storage, hopefully a email account and a photo album would be awesome. please help! i have to get the hosting set up by wednesday night.
