Hosting Com
How can I set up my domain that I purchased at GoDaddy.com to work with hosting I purchased at HostGator.com?
I just purchased both of these, how can I set them up to work together?
As always, I'm curious why the first question I ask is deleted. Does this not having anything to do with the Internet/General?
You need to get the DNS info from hostgator.com and then give that to godaddy so they can point you domain to the host.
What useragent does isnare.com use when connecting to the free hosting to send their articles?
I snare.com sends articles to various article site via HTTP Post method. Does any one know the name of the useragent isnare.com use to send articles to publisher websites
It probably doesn't send a user agent string. But you could always e-mail them and ask.
What does it really cost to use i12.com for hosting websites?
I now use oneandone for five sites and I know what it costs. I have broadband and have unlimited access. i12 say they get their pay from my telephone bills. I don't understand this. Can anyone explain?
On the main i12.com website they say webspace is a free service. But on their homepage they list ADSL "Coming soon in August and September 2004." I wouldn't use a webhost who hasn't updated their website in 3 years, even if they are free.
If you are shopping around, try www.comparewebhosts.com. It's a specialized search engine for hosts.

I would check out bluehost. They have a great pacakage starting at 7 bucks a month. 1500gigs of storage and 15,000 gigs of data transfer. You can have unlimited domain names and up to 2500 emails (don't ask me who would need that many)
They also offer search engine submission and some advertising credits for google Adwords and Yahoo.
You can see what they offer at: http://www.bluehost.com/track/bretsallee/
How do I restart Apache on my GoDaddy.com hosting account?
I made some changes to php.ini, and I apparently need to restart Apache. I don't know how to do this. I've searched the web, and every article assumes you are the host and you can access the server directly. How do I do this remotely with a goDaddy account?
I don't think GoDaddy would give you that kind of permissions on their servers. If there is an admin control panel that allowed you to edit the php.ini file, then they should have a Save button or something like that. It may just take some time for the changes to take effect. You can always call their tech support. JR
Are there any free web hosting sites that llow you to have a free domain name...like a dot com name?
Preeferably one that doesn't say the name of the site in the url. Thanks.
www.angelfire.com is free or at least it used to be.
How do I start posting photos to my website?? I only have the dot-com name. I know nothing about hosting, etc.?
A) You need a Web host to get pages on the Web.
To learn about what a Web host is, click here:
http://missingmethods.com/Programing/H/What_a_Web_host_is.html
B) Your Web host will let you choose your domain name. Examles of a domain name: google.com, amazon.com, MissingMethods.com, etc.
C) Consider using Dreamweaver CS3 to help you create and design your site: I was in the same position as you 3 months ago, facing the same issues, and that's what I am using. It's pretty good for people who don't know what they are doing! You can create your pages in a Word Document and import them into dreamweaver if you wish too.
Note:
You can start making your Web pages without a Web host, or Dreamweaver for that matter--Dreamweaver just makes it ALOT easier. This means creating Web pages cost nothing!
You only need a Web host when you are ready for the world to view your Web pages. But you have to create them first!
To create Web pages, you need to know the language of the Web: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. And that cost nothing. You can create a Web page in as little as two seconds at no cost in Notepad. And the best part is, knowing XHTML gives you full creative freedom over designing your web page: You aren't stuck with the limitations of a template. Besides, you still need to know XHTML for Dreamweaver CS3 so you won't get lost.
Here is a short tutorial with visual aids and "copy and paste" xhtml code to walk you through making your first Web page in Dreamweaver CS3 or Notepad.
It's a great place to start: http://missingmethods.com/Programing/H/HTML.html
Let me also leave you with this helpful link:

This provides a link to download Dreamweaver CS3 free, tips on what you should look for in a Web host, some links to Web hosts you might want to consider, and a link to a Dreamweaver Tutorial to get you started.
When I try to go to amazon.com website it goes to a web hosting site with code 508510. How to fix problem?
This problem recently appeared and when I did some checking it appears that another web hosting site is redirecting me. any help would be appreciated.
this only happens when I try amazons website. I am not being redirected when I try other websites such as ebay or overstock.
Sounds like your browser was hijacked by some kind of spyware or virus. Do a system scan with an updated virus scanner and spyware scanner and it should be able to clear that up.
What's the difference between WordPress.com's VIP Hosting and WordPress.org?
I know both can add Adsense, and manage ads. Which one is more worth it on the long run? Do you need to apply for VIP hosting?
To use VIP Hosting, you already must have a very successful blog - somewhere in the ballpark of 500,000 pageviews per month. You must be able to afford a $600 set-up fee and $300 per month for the service. And yes, you must apply. Only a few applicants will be accepted. Basically, VIP Hosting is for up-and-coming "blog celebrities" - big name bloggers - who have the money and influence for Wordpress to want them as clients.
On the other hand...to use Wordpress.org, you need to download the free installation, and have your own server space (e.g. from a web host like Netfirms.com). That's it. No fees, no applications, and as long you have access to some server space to store your site, it's open to everyone. Big and small blogs alike.
So which one is more worth it? Wordpress.org. Because it'll cost you about $100 a year, as opposed to $4200 a year for VIP Hosting. And the $100 isn't even for Wordpress, it's for the server space.
I hope this helps! Best of luck with your blog!
Does Any One Knows Whether Best28.com Web Hosting Company has a Web hosting Reseller program?
When I read in Business Outlook that Best28.com web hosting company has a hosting reseller program and that any one can join it. But on visiting their site I could not find any web hosting reseller program link. Can you find for me?
You could also try http://www.hostamina.com - they do custom reseller plans but you have to email them.
