How do Online gaming servers work?
Does everygame have its own servers?Are Servers a physical item?Where are Servers kept?
I want to buy a wii to play ssbb online, but I want to be confident that I'll be able to go online and play years and years from now.....Do all game servers eventually get shut down?
Servers are the machine that is actually playing the game, while your system at home is sending signals to it. However, while some companies shut down their servers, i.e. Microsoft's Gaming Zone for Age of Empires, you can still host your own game (direct connect) with your friends. However, this should be years to come as Counter-strike 1.6 servers are still going strong, and SSBB is popular!
Does cedega (for linux gaming) work with private servers for the online games on it's list?
Does cedega work with private servers. I want to play ragnarok, but I want to play the private server version.
It's possible, some tweaking will most likely be required.

Do you mean a filtering tool like they use in schools? Sorry man, but they probably block the content on the page, not just the website itself. You could always try a circumventor site like stupidcensorship.com, but I can almost guarantee you that 99% of them are already blocked.

How do I decide which DSL ISP has the best upload speed for gaming?
I have comcast cable which sux for my gaming b/c I share bandwidth with every1 in my city. My upload speed is so slow during peak times that I can not even keep connected to game servers. So, I need DSL so that my connection is solitary and consistently fast. I know cable is rated faster than DSL, but I need something fast during peak times. Plz help with your tips and thank you!

at 3.5 m/sec but I have actually gotten faster downloads

Proxy does not work. It is because the client program (not IE) has it's own protocol, not HTTP and no proxy option.
I know it will be lagged. But at least I want to try ^^ And I am not playing MMO online game, it can accept a little bit delay.
I want to enter a close beta testing game server in Korea. I have got the account from a friend. However, seems the server reject foregin IP ><__><
It is difficult. Because you need to connect your PC to a foregin server and then route back to the game server, it will cause a large time delay.
But if you want to try, there are some free VPN server to provide this kind of services. (You need to use VPN, not Proxy. Since proxy only support HTTP, FTP...etc, not all protocol)
However, you should make sure that this game server only accepts it's local country IP or just reject your country IP?
If it is the first case, it is even more difficult. Because you need to find a VPN in this country.
If it is the second case, it is a bit easier.

In call of duty 4 multiplayer, i see the servers and games, but there is never anyone in them?
I can see, select, and join all games and servers of COD4, but there is never anyone in them. On the client list it shows there are NEVER any people on the servers. It cant be NEVER, can it?

I can't log in to Yahoo games servers after 1830 CET. I have no problems getting in before that time, but at 1830, if I am in middle of game, I get froze out and cant get back in. I can log in fine before, but come 1830, I'm froze.

go to Tools, open Internet options, advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so unclick the 2 java’s listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. Close. This lets msn virtual machine launch yahoo messenger and games. Increasing your virtual memory helps with the freezing/getting booted problem. You can increase your memory by going to start button, settings, control panel, system, advance tab, performance, advance tab, virtual memory, change it, make it 600 kb or higher, click set then ok
