hi guys and girls i have a router and seems o be the problem of why i people have problems joining servers i host in a game called joint operations, i host it and they say they cant get in. people tell me i have to change something in my router settings but what is it that im supposed to do please do it as detail as u can i suck when it comes to networking stuff

Look up port forwarding. That's probably your problem.

Hosting game server on a dynamic ip?
So I made a pretty nice server in SAMP (San Andreas Multiplayer) and when i tried to host it using my ip address (The one from a website like whatsmyip.com) and it was not found. Later I installed no-ip because I learned that you need something like this if you have a dynamic ip. So I filled that all out with the same ip address. No result. Last I tried to unblock my windows firewall but still no result. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong? Or is it simply impossible to host a SAMP server on a dynamic IP? Thanks in advance, EDIT: I have a Belkin router if that helps. EDIT: I have announce on in the cnfg file in the SAMP server and I can easily go on it from my own computer byt typing in :777

Me and a few other people have been making an online flash game for the past five months. Now, we have nailed everything down except for a server. We are looking for one with lots of bandwidth, but we cannot actually speak numbers. Does anyone know where we might be able to get a server?

I am planning on starting a game server rental. The game to be hosted will possibly be Counter Strike: Source. I would appreciate a detailed explanation. I will be renting a dedicated server. Also how would I get steam to run more than once at a time. How would I get people to rent it, by creating a website?

There are many ways to do this kind of hosting. I recommend Googling for reasonable prices. After buying/renting the server, you will need to install the Source DS (Dedicated Server) into the server. After doing so, simply set the options you want for the server, add your servr mods, and make sure sv_lan is set to 0 ( type "sv_lan 0" in the DS Console, without the quotes). As far as getting a website, I would recommend Yahoo's hosting, 12$/month is reasonable, 25GB Transfer, 25GB File hosting, designer tools, etc... . If you want more, such as Pearl, SQL, PHP, and such, I would upgrade to Yahoo! Small Business Professional. That would get your website set. Integrate a PayPal HTML Script (added already in the Yahoo! Pagebuilder 2.2) to the website, and you can get the money from rentals. Good luck man. -Cybersnark

How many clients are usually on one server for a game like Day of Defeat Source , and Counter Strike Source? (unless the client orders a private server) 4 , 5 , or more? Reason I ask this is because I am looking into creating a few servers (10 or so to start) , for hosting peoples Multiplayer games , seems like it would more than pay for itself in a year or so. But , too many clients on one server could produce bat quality , and , thats not a turn on for a client. Also , how many comptuers (servers in this case) could run wirelessly of a wireless router before I would need to get a new Modem , High speed internet plan , and router? thanks , Joe

First make sure your provider allows servers on the connection. It can be in the thousands.
