I have a flash website and need to make a download link. Therefore i need a server to put the files on, but i can't find one that's free. Does anyone know any free file hosting thingys for this (i don't know what they're called) that are good or sort of good?

What do I do if a guy on Steam wants my username and password to activate a "free" server?
If you don't know what Steam is, don't bother reading this.
He needs my account username and password so I can get this server. He says he needs it to put in these codes that he's not allowed to give out, and he says he'll sponsor me or whatever. I've never bought a server before so I thought a free one would be cool, but I'm not sure if it's a scam. Please help! I have about 250 dollars worth of games on that account.

Dude, nobody from any reputable company would need to ask you for your password for any thing. This guy is trying to hack your account.
Free server to upload my website and how to do it?
Hello everyone. Well i know how to make a website using ASP.NET but i dont know how to upload it on server so that my website can be accessed from any computer connected to internet(though its working fine on local computer). So can you please help me and tell me how to upload it on a remote server and please tell the address of free web servers on which i can upload my website for free.

You will need to get an account from the hosting provider. Then they will be able to set up an account to allow you to upload your websites to their server. Normally they will either have a web browser, or FTP account information. You will need a FTP software to use FTP to upload your files.

Get any modern Linux distro, such as Fedora or Ubuntu. Most of them include some sort of mail server (MTA) with pop3/smtp that you can choose to include during initial installation.
The most used mail servers today are:
qmail :: http://www.qmail.org
Postfix :: http://www.postfix.org
Courier :: http://www.courier-mta.org
Cyrus :: http://cyrusimap.web.cmu.edu
All of them are not user-friendly though, so you'll need to configure them manually via configuration files, though web hosting software such as cPanel will allow to configure some of these via web interface.

What you need to find is a secure hosting solution that supplies CGI and Database options.
I strongly advise that you DON'T attempt to manage your own server if you have had no Systems Administration and Server Administration experience. You would open yourself up to all sorts of security problems.

Is there free server space that I can practice my web design with?

If you mean an operating system then i can tell you where to find a free one but if you want a server or wtvr i cant. Anyways you can go to Kubuntu.com and click "Ship it:Free CDs". If u want to download the newest operating system then click the "download newest version" or you can have them ship you a cd that is one version older but still really good for no cost whatsoever. If you click the one to ship a CD alogin window will come up. It's easy to get a username so dont just push the back button. Instead click create a new acount but use your real email cuz they'll send u a confirmation. Once u get your username just put your adress in and click "Ship CDs"

i used to play on a free ultima online server, and to play you had to have an official build of the game. i was wondering if i also had to have an official build to play ragnarok online, or if i can just download the independent server's client and play from just that.

also: if you have played any free servers for ro, what is your favorite?
to play online RO, you need to download and patch all necessary RO files. for private server i suggest downloading latest KRO and sakray files. just go to www.ratemyserver.net and get the download from there.
if you do have ro files already like you're playing offline ro then you can download the server's sclient and play right away. but most of the private servers have updated files so to avoid gravity erros and all those kind of stuff i suggest getting the latest and updated KRO/SAKRAY download.
i played to several private servers already: heinro, insomiac,suddendeath,genocide, and a lot more..as of the moment im playing on and off. it also depends what kind of server you want by the way, since i like super high rated server then i love genocidero, a PK server. if you like leveling to be really slow then there are a lot of low rated servers..
