what's a free FTP host?
who knows of a free FTP host with the following: the ability to set a site's ftp.domainname.com CNAME or nameservers to the free FTP host to basicly install an ftp that way? i want ftp.runeswitcher.com to be an ftp, but i don't have a host that'll do it.... not an ftp client, an ftp HOST... so my site will have ftp.runeswitcher.com...

There is always a catch to free hosting. They will run ads on your page or do something else lame. First off dump Frontpage, as it completely sucks. Real designers use Dreamweaver. And I am not just saying that to be a jerk, I used to use Frontpage. Many of the bugs that were in Frontpage 98 are still in the latest version. The whole Frontpage Extensions thing and shared borders are just hideous. There is no good argument for using it. Secondly, if your web site is not worth investing $5 per month (there are plenty of places as cheap as this), then it clearly is not worth publishing in the first place.

how do i use an FTP program to get my website from iweb to a free host?
I have iweb and built a complete cool little blog and i want to add it to the web but not on .mac. I dont have a FTP program yet so if someone can suggest an easy one too that would be helpful. I'm very new at this

Hi, If ur talking about ftp clients then i personally use this one - http://www.cuteftp.com/ . Honestly speaking, i find it quite safe and very easy to use. Is there a site offering free storage with FTP access for backup?
I want to back up my data regularly from my home computer. The files would be zipped and uploaded to an external host by a script (written by me) with FTP. I know there are pay services which offer such services, but before spending my money I'd like to know if by chance there is a site on the net which offer this for free. Thanks in advance.

I am not personally familiar with this service but a simple google search came up with: http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Web_Space/ whch claims to have ftp and cgi access... I would be very suspicious of any site providing free access especially with ftp since it is often used for pirating software... You may want to ask your own ISP if they offer this. Most ISP's will allow users the ability to create a website however the space is usually limited. If you did not need FTP access you could use Google's Gmail to store files since there space is unlimited and they allow reasonably sized files... Good Luck
