Does anyone know how to get a free dedicated server?
I have a clan and a website, so i want a server to go with it. But, alot of dedicated server hostings are expensive. Do you know of any free dedicated server hostings? If you do tell me plz :) But, if you don't know any can you plz tell me of some of the cheapest hostings :)

How do I take a MapleStory Private Server, and make it online for free registration / dedicated?
I have my own Private Server for MapleStory. It's only running on Hamachi at the moment. I'm wondering how those official Private Servers get their servers online for free registration from the website. I heard that you need a "Dedicated Server" but I'm not even sure how that works. It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some help and information from somebody on this. Thanks, -JJ

Not a great time to release a private server. Maples V.056 patch has a new encryption in it which, unless it is broken, means private servers won't be able to play from the original maple game.

What do you mean the Dedicated server doesn't work? You properly need to tweak your Firewall and enable the ports, also if your behind a router you need to set the DMZ right. If you really want a fast server use Linux. Be aware that you still need a fast Internet connection. If you are looking for a REAL server (hosted) there is no such think as free...only cheap

how do I create a nonpublic proxy server for surfing?
I would like to know how I can browse the web through a private, non-public, solely dedicated proxy server. I have found many sites that let you purchase software, or free sites that are filled with ads, but I am looking for to proxy surf without any website knowing it is a proxy browser (whatismyipaddress.com seems to know all the public ones).

I did this recently on a web server that I have access to (for different reasons). What I did was to install TinyProxy because it was small and lightweight and wouldn't affect the performance of the web server very much. TinyProxy has an anonymous mode which allows you to control which headers get sent to the website you are requesting. TinyProxy is still fairly new software and doesn't have very much documentation but it's fairly easy to figure out. If you want more community support or much more documentation, you could use a more full-featured proxy software such as Squid. Squid also allows for anonymity with the access_headers controls. I have linked a couple of tutorials on how to set this up below. Both of these pieces of proxy software are free in both senses of the word. Owning a server to run them on is usually not free. Apart from running your own proxy server, the best way to achieve anonymity is by using Tor. Tor is specifically designed for anonymity and essentially redirects every request you make through a different, totally anonymous proxy server.

You would need a static IP so you can point your MX (Mail Exchange) record to it. Talk to your ISP about upgrading to a business plan. Your domain registrar can deal with the MX record, or you can create it yourself. You could use something like Sendmail on a UNIX box, but its very difficult to setup. You can have a look at various different software companies for free, like http://www.hmailserver.com/. If you want a corporate solution, Microsoft Exchange is common, and pretty simple to deal with but will cost. Additional : If you have your own domain, there is no real limit on the number of email addresses you can have since you are hosting the mail environment.
