What if the new owner would like to transfer the domain name and all its content over to a different hosting company? Godaddy how does domain transfer work?
I have sold my website on ebay and I now want to transfer ownership to the new owner. Could you please explain step-by-step what I need to do on godaddy? This is what I did. But apparently I did something wrong. I logged in into godaddy --> account --> Manage Domains --> Pending Account Changes. My domain is listed there. I entered an ID and a Code that my buyer had received, but I got an error message saying that: No updates were made. Gaining account can not be the same as the losing account. What have I been doing wrong? It would be great if you could help. It's probably quite easy to do, but I am too stupid for domain transfer.

Call godaddy's phone support and they will walk you through what you need to do. They can see your account and will be able to tell you what is stopping the transfer from going through. Good Luck!

what should I include in a domain name transfer contract?
I just purchased a domain name from someone on Godaddy. I want to transfer the name to me, but want a contract saying that I have the full rights to the name. What should I include in such a contract (for both of us to sign) Thanks a lot! 10 points to the first good answer!

Check out this site, they have a pretty good template that I have used in the past. http://www.proposalkit.com/pdf/IT_web_software_hardware_contracts/AssignDomainName_Sample.pdf

How do you transfer a domain name to a friend?
My friend has a Yahoo Domain, and so do I. How does she transfer the ownership of the domain to me?

Go to the provider from who you got the domain name and ask or check their help file.Give the domain to friend and let him/her use it as if they where you,but it would be better to transfer through provider you purchased it from.

How can I transfer a domain name to a new registrar?
I have requested my ISP to cancell my web hosting account before its expiration date(October this year)because I want to join a new web hosting company. The current ISP has already cancelled the web hosting account but has refused to give me the information on how to change DNS and how to transfer my domain name to a new domain registrar/web hosting company.

Contact the new ISP, and tell them you want the domain transferred. They will then contact your previous ISP, which in turn will contact you to authorize the transfer. At least this is how it's supposed to work. Sometimes, though, the previous ISP is not to eager to help transferring the domain.

How do I transfer a domain name to a new owner?
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good guide online of how to do this? I have found sites that help you make a sale like afternic, but I am wondering how I can do this on my own? Also, I have one domain with a company I do not like and I want to transfer it to another company with better web hosting services. How do I do that? Thanks

Domain name registration and web hosting are typically different services, and most companies should charge for them separately. Changing the physical location of the website is as easy as changing the Domain Name Servers (DNS) for your domain name account. How exactly to do that will vary with each company, and how they designed their website's user interface. But now that you know what to look for, you should be pointing in the right direction. As far as changing the domain name REGISTRAR company, the timing is a bit more crucial. Normally you'll wait until a few weeks before the domain is about to expire, and sign up with a new registrar to initiate the transfer. Maybe a specific example will help... I used to have both domain name registration and web hosting from GoDaddy. Their web hosting didn't fill my needs, so I opened a new web hosting account with HostGator. I then canceled my GoDaddy web hosting service, and pointed the DNS to those provided by my new web hosting company.

How can I get someone to transfer their domain to me?
The owner of the domain has been sitting on it for years and is happy to transfer it to me so that I can develop a website. The only thing is they don't know how, they can't even remember who they got it through. What can be done about this? @Ebilan: Yes that's right, but how do you suggest getting into the control panel if the person got it through an agent, and / or does not know the username and password for the control panel?

Hi, just get the now owner to contact his Hosting provider and get him to request an Authorization code (EPP code) .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ domains all need EPP codes now. Once he has this he can send it to you and you can then give it to your Hosting provider who will switch the domain to you on you account with them. Below are the steps: 1) The domain name must have a status of ACTIVE or UNLOCKED. 2) You may need an Authorization code (EPP code). An EPP code is a code to pre-authorise the transfer of a domain. You can get your EPP code from your existing host or registrar. 3) Lastly, make sure you or the person who is performing the transfer have access to the email address of the Admin Contact - an email will get sent to the admin contact for approval.

How do you transfer a domain name?
Hi, i am planning to sell my domain name on ebay, and was wondering how i go about transfering this to the winner its registered with godaddy. Also does this cost to transfer? How should i prove that it is mine as i am new to ebay so have low feedback so i think they might want proof.

Transfering a domain name is initiated by the party that is going to receive it, which then generates an email to the owner of the domain who has to approve the transfer. Since you are probably transfering it to someone you don't know, and who doesn't know you, then the transaction should be handled in the same way you would sell your house or car... through an ESCROW agent. There are companies which specialize in Domain Name Escrow Services, and you can find them easily by searching Yahoo! for "Domain Name Escrow Service"
