One domain two hosting server?
I have domain and a hosting. As the hosting server is down frequently , I am planning to purchase one more server. So can I do some thing like this , if one server is down , it should automatically taken from the other. Is this possible, if so please advice.

How do I "point" my domain registered at one company to the server in another company where I bought hosting?
I registered a domain with sitelutions.com last year. Now I am going to buy a hosting package with another company. I was told that I can point my domain to the server of the company that I bought the hosting from . How do I do this? What is this called? URL redirection? DNS? Or what? I don't know the terminology. But anyways, how to do make it so that when you type in the domain name on your browser, you get webpages coming form the hosting company's server?

You find out what the nameserver address it and you type that in at your domain account.

my client has 3 web addresses. I am designing some new websites how do i get their web domains to link to the server where the website is hosted, do you have to go back to where the domain name was purchased from and do it that way?...lycos hosting has a tool to select new domain names but surely you need some information/permission to link another address?...any help appreciated

Never used lycos, but the usual procedure would be to go into your hosting control panel, add the domain, then go to the site where the domain's dns records are hosted(probably the same place where the domains were registered) and then edit the dns records to point to the ip of the host server. However, I'm not sure if this works with Lycos, I think any domains you use need to be hosted with them.

2 domain names, same server, same DNS hosting service, why can I only see one?
My company just switched dns servers to zoneedit.com. We have two websites that run on the same server (same IP.) We only switched our DNS providers, we did not switch the IP of the server. 1 day after the switch, multiple servers around the world could ping and visit both servers and whois queries returned the new server host info. Now, no one in the world can see ONE of the domain names, but everyone can see the other one! Can anyone tell me why this might be, and maybe how we might go about rectifying the problem?

It looks like there might be a DNS issue. Either DNS propagation has not completed or the DNS hosts have not been set on the domain that's not working. Try to use dnsstuff.com to troubleshoot the problem.
