Domain Reg
Has anyone used www.hotstix.com? Did you know that their domain reg expired on 1/11/08? Did you pay them?
Looking for other individuals who may have used this service. Does anyone know what happened? Their domain registration has expired and I have not received any communication from them. Remember, there is strength and power in numbers. Let's communicate if you feel you were not treated fairly. BTW, I'm not an attorney, just a concerned customer.
I don't know what happend to them either. I really liked the newletter. I started a blog to hopefully collect some information on the owners. Maybe we can get the service restarted, get a refund or at least embarass the backers. A link to my blog is below...
I own a domain name, registered in good faith before a trademark was reg'd. Must I relinquish the domain?
In 2005, I designed a product that has not yet launched, and gave the product a name. The domain name for that product was taken, so I "backordered" the name through GoDaddy. It actually came up for auction several months ago and I purchased it.
AFTER I purchased it, another company obtained a trademark. Their use of the name only goes back a few months.
I did not cybersquat and my registration was in good faith. I have not put anything on the site for fear of infringing their trademark. Do I have any legal obligation to surrender the name?
I'm not a lawyer either but unless you have money to burn to fight a potential legal battle, don't fight over it.
123-reg domain problem PleaseHelp!?
Hi I asked this on the 123-reg support thing
"Hello when I set up web forwarding that is not framed and I go to my website it displays my ip address in the address bar , I DONT WANT THIS , and when I set up forwarding with Frame it displays my domain name, which is good but when i click on a link for example login.php , the URL in the address bar stays as http://www.mydomain.co.uk instead of http://www.mydomain.co.uk/login.php. How can I set up my account so the extentions show up on the end of my URL ? "
AND THIS IS THE REPLY I GOT
"With framed web forwarding it will always mask the actual address with the just your domain name, if you wish to show your domain/file in the address bar you will need to point your domain at the server via a nameserver or a DNS change. I suggest that you contact the server provider to see if this is possible.
"
ok has any one got a clue what to do , 1) how do i point my domain to the server via a name server 2) or if I have to make a DNS change What do I change and were ?? :s

123-Reg Domain name , web forwarding PROBLEM?
Hello ok this is my problem , with my domain provider 123-Reg , when i web forward it is being a right pain. in the url to point to box I put my IP address since im running apache server and when i click one of the frame options the website URL allways stays static , for example: I type in http://www.mydomain.co.uk and click a link to login.php , instead of the new url in the addres bar being http://www.mydomain.co.uk/login.php it stays the same. when i choose a non-frame option and go to my website the address bar displays my Ip address which i dont want.
Is there any way of setting my domain up so when i go to my website it displays my domain and when i click a link it adds the name of the page on the end , you know like normal websites do.
BTW my domain is www.arronssite.co.uk but since its running off a home computer it has alot of down time at night for example.
Hi
Though i don't have any experience with 123-Reg, it doesn't look like a Web forwarding Problem.
This is the common behavior of Frame.
One Solution:
You can use java scripts to change your page links properly.
For ex:
If your code is like
login
or
login
use javascript to change this to
login
You may need to add this script to all pages..
There are few ready made scripts available to do this.
Another Solution:
But before doing this all, i will suggest adding A record for your domain instead of URL Frame.
Adding A Record for your domain with your server IP will solve your Problem easily.
In your Domain Control Panel,
For WWW and an A record with your server IP.
Try it and update the status.
I want to reg a domain fo company I'm hoping to start. What does Web parking mean, will it keep my name safe?
I know nothing about web design and I'm not at a stage of building a web site yet. I just want to go to step #1 and get the name registered. I also want to do it through a service that doesn't charge much so I'm open to company recommendations. Thank you!
Buy the domain from register.com (they're the one I use). It costs $29 per year, less if you pay for multiple years.
All you have to do is buy the domain name. It's yours as long as you keep renewing it each year.
Building you web site can come later.
Pay by cash domain reg?
Is there a registrar that offers a pay by cash option for domain registration? That's the only option I currently have.
You can try http://www.instant-domain.com/index.html
It's 19.95 to register.
how do i reg a domain with my name, and how much does it cost?
Many of the free sites offer an upgrade to premium services that include domain hosting. Some are Angelfire, 20m, Tripod and Yahoo. My site is through Yahoo. They all offer different prices, usually around $10/month, some lower, some higher. They each have their strengths and weaknesses, so shop before you buy depending on your needs.

I know a company that loans money (lots of money) for reasonable interest rates to practically anyone that has a viable plan to turn their lives around and use their many years of experience and start their own business. I am one of the lenders as well. Msg me w/ your email address for more info.
