Domain Information
domain information?
Could you tell me who my domain information belongs to and whether or not notice has been sent out regarding my renewal yet. I received an email from Domain Notification Central for "final notice" only I have never received any other notices.
Last time I renwed my domain I was given an option of renewing all or registering my domain only. If you need a copy of the DNC notice please let me know.
Thank you
N Wright
Contact them immediately and confirm your registration. They may have previously emailed and it was lost do to a mail server problem, or sent a letter to the wrong address. Check the details they hold, just in case.
Is it legal to sell public domain information?
For example, would it be legal for someone to capture a command information newspaper article posted on a Web site, written by a federal employee, and resell it for profit?
I am relatively certain this has been done before in the past, because you can find U.S. military field manuals for sale all over the Internet.
If you have references for your answers, I would greatly appreciate it if you would include a link. I've requested legal opinions from official sources before in the past, but I think I'm stuck this time deciding legal sufficiency on my own.
Thanks in advance! :-)
Great answers thus far ...
The money that is charged is not for the information, but usually for the time and material that goes into printing it, along with some profit to keep the operation going. (It is very hard to keep a business running without making money.)
does anyone know a website where you can find out public domain information about who is registered rep or dem
I'm talking about a specific website devoted to something like this. Not a site like google, where it just searches the entire net and you have to sift through 15 pages and still only get half your answer.
Check the state and county you want to know about. Get a hold of the registrar in the county seat and they will provide you the record.

What is the "domain" part of the information box in the ipaq email set up?
I'm talking about one of the three boxes in the ipaq set up for email. I know what to put in the first two boxes (pop and smpt) but the third, domain, has me stuck.
domain points to you service provider or your email addresses provider. For example in dave@yahoo.com - the domain is "yahoo.com"
In most cases you may not even need to put it - since it will automatically pick it up from your email addres.
How do I Find out past owner of a Domain? Registrar information?
Is there a database / site that keep track of all changes to the Registar information of a domaim (web site)
Try going to www.domain.com and doing a lookup on the domain in question. If it is currently in-use it will provide the ownership info. If it's available, go for it. You can then go to a multitude of other webhosting sites and buy that domain name and let them host it for you.
All ftc.gov information on website is public domain info right?
All the information on the ftc.gov website is Public Domain Information and can be used freely right?
I believe you are likely correct as a general matter. U.S. government works cannot be copyrighted. There used to be a notice requirement but I believe that has been rescinded.
There may be other restrictions on use but I am not personally aware of any. Also, this may not apply to anything on the ftc's website that was authored by someone else. For example, the web designer might have a copyright in some design element. I am not an intellectual property attorney and this does not constitute legal advice.
