Domain Hosting Search
Domain search for your website?
How do web hosting companies get domain searches for their websites? Do they have to register with something? How could I get one for my website?
Become a GoDaddy affiliate and they will give you the code to have a domain search.

Does domain redirection help the search engine ranking?
Dear yahoo users.
We have over 15 domain names not hosted yet. Does hosting them and redirecting to point to our main domain would help with improving the ranking of our website? Is it safe practice with the search engines?
We would highly appreciate any help in this connection. You can contact via email or yahoo messenger. Blessings

Having 15 domain names will not help your search engine ranking because these domains are not viewed as different domains linking to your site, but rather considered as a single domain pointing to the same URL. Search engines such as Google see them as all the same domain if they are all pointed to the same IP address and index only one site.
The problem that arises from this situation is telling the search engines which one is your real domain name. I have seen some folks get into problems with this domain redirection.
The best option is to set up 301 permanent redirects for the other 15. Doing so will help the search engines know which domain name is correct and that they should index
my domain name and hosting is with yahoo. Why can't their own search engine find it. This just is not right.
I believe Yahoo search should find a site that they have hosted without having to wait for weeks to have it crawled.
Yahoo finder can be stupid sometimes. Ask jeeves =)

Question about free domain hosting and Google?
...I've done my homework and searched for other people's q&a, but I wonder, once you have your page made and going, how do you make it to appear in google searchs?
First create some meta tags which are relevant to your website you can use some online meta tag generators like the following.
http://websitesubmit.hypermart.net/metatags.htm
and then
Go to www.google.com/addurl/ and manually sumit your url there are loads of search engines make sure you submit the url to most of the major search engines.
wait for a while before you see your site being indexed. for more information on search engine optimisation visit:

Will changing hosting company affect on my search ranking in yahoo or google?
Hi,
I want to change my hosting company to a new one. I want to keep the dame domain name which I have with different company (currently pointing to currecnt hosting).
If I change the hosting company and point my domain (change the ns) to the new hosting company, will it afffect my search ranking and anything else?
Thank you very much.
No, absolutely not. Unless you mess up your html/meta tag codes... Cheers my fren, you can change your hosting without fear

If I buy a domain and have a host, will my site come up on yahoo.com when people search my name?
I want to create a site that will come up on search engines. My plan now is to go through yahoo and purchase a domain and use yahoo hosting, as well. I just want to make sure that will put me out there! (The site is a classroom/teacher website, not a business)
Once you have a website on the web it will take a few days/weeks for search engines to update. But yes it will eventually show up.
How i can make sure that a domain is regisitered for me so that i can protect my legal right?
I have bought a domain for me at BDT 1500 (around USD 21) from an ISP(reseller)
However the domain search shows that Administrative Contact:Registration Service Provided By:
Technical Contact:Registrant Contact:Status: Locked
are in the name of ISP. Now how could i make sure that it belongs to me . I have yet not decided where to host . But if I want to host it with other hosting company (other than the ISP which has bought the domain for me), what should i do
you have to change your nameservers.
Domain name and hosting?
Although I have been making websites for years on free hosts such as Geocities, I've been afraid to get my own domain.
Finally I'm sick of their forced adverts, so does anyone know of a similar site with no forced adverts or banners, or can tell me how domain and hosting works? I understand I will have to buy both, but where from? I searched the internet and found this site: http://www.netfirms.com/domain-names/ , but it (and all other selling .coms) looks so seedy and badly made to me, I don't want to give away my details to some scam site.
Once i have bought a .com or similar, how do i create the pages? On geocities i am used to having a html space so I can create, save and edit pages easily, as well as overviewing what pages I have. However, Geocities seems expensive so i don't wish to upgrade on it.
Any advice please?
Thanks :)
(1) For domain registration I recommend http://www.namecheap.com
Their price is $9.29.
You can use the Promo Code: APRILSHOWERS (this promo code is valid only in april)
and get the price down to $8.41. You can still find a cheaper domain registrar but I really recommend Namecheap, they are very easy to use, and have a great user interface. I still have a couple of domains on Godaddy, but I'm gonna move them all to Namecheap. I can't stand the Godaddy's site. As for privacy, most registrars (Namecheap is one of them) have Privacy Protection, which will hide your private info from WHOIS, like your name, address, phone number, email... so no one can actually see who really registered your domain name.
(2) For web hosting I recommend http://www.dreamhost.com
They are over 10 years in business, have a really great plan 500 GB Disk Space, 5TB Monthly Bandwidth, and you get one domain name included for free (so you don't even have to use a company like Namecheap for registration if you want to host just one site) but you can host multiple sites on a single account. The best thing about them is that they have a great control panel, very easy to use and very fast.
Their price is $119.40/year ($9.95/month if you pay yearly). Now, there are some cheaper web hosting companies, but you can use the Promo Code: ACTIVE and get the $50.00 discount, which brings the price down to 69.40/year ($5.78/month if you pay yearly) and beats the competition even on a price point.
(3) If you want to try Dreamhost but don't feel like paying the whole year of hosting upfront, you can choose to pay monthly. Now, most hosting companies don't even offer monthly payments (because they prefer your money upfront :) ), and those that do, usually charge a huge setup fee to discourage you from going the monthly payment route. Dreamhost is one of them, they charge the $49.95 setup fee, but you can use the Promo Code: DNA and get the setup for free. So you can start your web hosting for only $10.95 a month. :)
I hope this helps! :)
my web hosts have removed my website from my domain and have replaced it with a search engine. HELP PLEASE!!!?
I have a problem with my web hosts, i bought a .com domain name 4 years ago and have been using it for my small business ever since, my hosts have now taken my site off line and replaced my site with a search engine. I have emailed/logged numerous tickets with them with no response & I can't call them as none of their advertised numbers work. They ( Prowebspace.com ) are a proper tinpot company and I'm at my wits end. They didn't even register my .com domain in my name, they have registered it in theirs so I can't transfer it to a reliable host. What can I do, I need my domain as it is our brand name but I don't know who to contact or what to do. I'm a single mum that puts food on the table via the money we make from the site, they know this yet they are too heartless to respond or help me. Please can someone help me, or give me advice on what to do next as I'm at my wits end with worry over this. Thank you in advance, Sonia
it sounds like they didn't renew the registration for your domain. Some other company probably bought it and will hold it "hostage". You can look up the current owner with a whois (theres a number of them)
http://www.domaintools.com/
http://www.internic.net/whois.html
I did a quick Google search of Prowebspace.com and came up with some very negative reviews.
if Prowebspace.com still owns your domain you might have to buy it from them. They sound pretty bad. They might have something in their Terms that actually allow them to do that.
I'm sorry I can't offer any more advice.
(feel bad for you. that's total BS!) --- good luck
