It depends on who is supplying your static IP address. Your communications company may offer you a static IP with unlimited bandwidth, for a hefty price tag. And that doesn't mean the rate of bandwidth is unlimited, it means that there is no limit to the amount of communcation your address can relay.

There are lots of them available, ranging from Unix (cheap) to Windows (expensive). If your #1 consideration is low cost, then you should go with Unix.

How to create a proxy on a server for bittorrent use at home?
My ISP has throttled my connection for Bittorrent. I have a few dedicated servers with plenty of bandwidth and I want to install a proxy on one where only I can connect to it and possibly encrypted as well. If possible I'd like only bittorrent to use this connection so it won't affect games and other things. I notice the bittorrent client has a proxy setting so this is an option but I don't know what I need to install on my server to make this work. Please help. Thank you. How to enable scrubbing on JW flv player?
I have the player on my site and i have a few issues with it. One of the issues is that i have some long educational videos, and some students want to skip the intro but they cant since it hasn't buffered the entire thing yet, so they have to wait for it, or pause and wait until they can scrub (seek) ahead. I understand that this could be an extra load on my dedicated server's bandwidth, but how do i actually do it? Thanks for any input,

Hmm...only ways around it is to either set the bufferlength variable or to set the start position to skip the introduction... start (0): position in seconds where playback has to start. Like this: start="50"

Live TV/ Mirror Servers?
This is actually two separated question related to one issue; we’ve been to offer a technical proposal for a new established TV station, and the IT manager of the station has a long list of requirements, we covered it all, only two issues lift as we never done them before: 1. They want the website visitors to be able to watch the live TV broadcast of the station online; 1.1. Does any body know any thing about this and we I can get started on this? 1.2. I'm thinking of providing a various options of bandwidth and formats 1.3. Is there any technical thing I should know from the IT manager or the broadcast dept' before we post our technical proposal 2. They want about 20-60 GB server for hosting and they want to have a mirror server, incase the 1st server was down, so it would redirect the visitors to the mirror server, I'm thinking of getting them a dedicated or semi-dedicated server, but how do you do the mirror issue. I'm not lazy, we've already been googling the net since we received they're requirements, but we only have 5 days max to post the proposal, so I really need all the help I can get. P.S. We use PHP/ MySql technology.

video upload to my website?
Hi, I'm toying with the idea of starting a community website but one of the things that I would like to emphasize is a members ability to upload video and have a section dedicated to video, BUT what is the best way to do this, with out eating tons of bandwidth and using tons of space to store these massive videos? I would like to allow a pretty good sized upload maybe even 8 to 10 min. of video or more. Is there any software available, that can take submitted video of multiple formats, and say, change it to a flash format with out me having to do it manually? I already looked at one company that had something almost similar to what I am looking for but they wanted $6000.00 for the liscense, way out of my price range @ this point, maybe @ any point! Anybody have a suggestion on how this can be achieved most efficiently? Is there a completely different way to go about this? There's got to be a way for a small site to do this, without just having hundreds of servers right? Thank you RMK
