Dedicated Ip Web Hosting

Need help with server organization of multiple web sites?
I probably organized all wrong to begin with and now I am hopelessly confused and in need of assistance to try to straighten things out. I am totally self taught and have fumbled my way around. I just got my 5th domain name from Go Daddy. My host is Pair. I have to decide what to do with this new domain...how to organize the directory, and I have never really understood the whole thing. I don't know if I want Dedicated IP Domain Hosting or Shared. So far I have four domains, all Dedicated, and I don't think that was necessary. None of them have shopping carts, or SSL certificates or anything like that. If the IP is shared, will the url act the same? For instance, say I have: www.me.com www.mysite.com www.yoursite.com www.oursite.com and now the new domain is www.example.com I don't want it to end up as www.mysite.com/example.com So, is it still okay to choose a shared IP Domain? I know, I really need better organization and I think some of these should share a domain if I only understood it. Thank you so much! I probably didn't make myself quite clear enough. I only have one hosting account with Pair. I don't require a lot of bandwidth. They will allow me to choose how I want to organize my domains. I can choose a shared IP domain and there is no additional monthly fee. Each dedicated IP domain does have a monthly fee. So far, I think I will be safe to choose to share the IP. Thank you to all for your fast and great responses!

Most Web hosts allow you to host multiple domains under a single account. If that's not the case with Pair, simply move all your sites over to GoDaddy.com and use that. As a rule, you can use shared hosting to serve most Web sites, provided they don't do very intensive tasks -- say, editing photos, running multiple SQL queries back-to-back or processing huge text / XML files. As you also note, shared hosting tends to be fine if you do not need an SSL certificate or hardcore server configuration specific to a domain. UPDATE: What they call a "shared IP domain" is what normal people, such as me, call shared Web hosting.

Best personal web server host?
I'm looking for a host for my one domain name. I'd like a dedicated IP, but not 100% necessary. Under 6$/month would be nice. Any suggestions?

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent. Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/ They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 600000 MB (600 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well. Control my dedicated server?
Hi, since my hosting company that I ordered a dedicated server from takes years to answer, I'd like to ask you guys how can I control the server now ... I got no Control Panel or anything, all they sent me was: -IP -Root password How can I set up game servers and web space now? I'd appreciate your answers. Thanks!

You would login as root and determine if they have a web server installed (and whether you want to use it) if they don't, or you don't want to use their web servers, then you just install one yourself. Once thats done, check through the configuration files and determine where you want to place the web space files. (do NOT run web servers, game servers or other user level things as root) As far as game servers, it really depends on which servers you want to install. The nice thing about a VPS is you get to do anything you want, you can install stuff, edit configuration files and so-on. It's important to understand users and groups. Unix administration is a complex topic full of domain specific topics (some folks specialize in apache, others are specialized in sendmail)
